I went to a bunch of comp meetings...plans for hamburg st, plans for junction etc etc.....the $$ just keeps hopping pockets without
real effect...

I'm all about

SIDEWALKS
STREET LIGHTS
SMALL SIGNAGE
QUIETING DOWN ALTAMONT AVE
OPEN AIR SHOPPING/CAFES ETC ON HAMBURG
ROTTERDAM PAINTED IN STYLE ON WATER TOWERS
NO SENIOR CENTER
COMMUNITY CENTER WITH AGE MIXING;NOT SEGREGATING
ETC ETC.....

I have other ideas that were pitched but the status quo wants to keep their cheap housing 'near familia' and keep sending their $$
to Florida and other retirement crap....YES, they are retiring and really could care less about what they leave behind for
their posterity....

No dog parks ^5. All excellent points. I'd add that replacing aging infrastructure should be included.

I just figured that was a no brainer....you can't build a 'house' on a bad foundation...same with building a town on
bad infrastructure

if we build it they will come....HOWEVER, 'THEY' DON'T GET TO TAKE FROM ME MORE THAN ONCE....that means no IDA

clean up utilities also

no need for poles up and down both sides of our town roads

sidewalks on main roads - cut a deal with Grandview or others,   purchase some forms, assign a team town workers and accept waste concrete for pennies on the dollar  - it might be slow, but its cheap and we would have something

green space  -there must be a min spec for each type of zoning for green space and it must not be violated - ie the appts on curry rd by floral ave  

there must also be a min set back - or we will have what 5 corners used to look like in the 70's - or the new look of malta or Saratoga -

sounds good....we need to get more organized....the lack of planning and the lack of comp plan leadership is turning this town
into an ugly trailer park

trust me....there may be 'thoughts'....but they go nowhere in ROTTENdam!

I do not share your pessimism. When you admit defeat then you are defeated. I will go to my grave scratching, clawing and fighting. I will not give up. That's one of the problems here in town. People are too easily defeated. No guts.

You've obviously given up. You should move to Arizona where the sun always shines and everything is perfect.

it's not pessimism...it's reality! And there are decades of MANY folks who DID go to their grave scratching and clawing andfighting.....and still nothing.

and while i commend the past and present folks who are scratching and clawing (did that myself for sometime), folks either just move out or scratch and claw at something else that 'will' make a difference.

RR.....some folks just feel beaten down after awhile....no fault of theirs.....it just happens.....i hear this repeated over and over!

let me also add that there are some very very insightful folks who live in ROTTENdam. Smart, educated and have a vision for their town.....sound, common sense, smart visions!

My point is.........it never goes beyond the 'microphone' at one of their tb meetings. it falls on deaf ears.
