There are 2 bald eagles hanging out on the island in Collins park, then been there for over 2 hours, quite a few people are pulling in to take pictures

Several years ago I was fishing below Lock 8 on the Scotia side across from the island. I sensed a large bird flying over my head, and when I looked up it was an eagle. It flew across the river and landed in a tree on the island. It was really breath taking. It's good to know there might be a nesting pair there now.

"Holy crap!! Did she EAT Bob??"

Not everything on the Interweb is truth. Only a gullible fool would believe otherwise.

Bill Pytlovany has many pictures of the Eagles in Scotia.  http://billpstudios.blogspot.com/2006/03/eagle-fishing-on-collins-lake.html Google name and eagles and you will see many more. He lives up on the one side of the lake overlooking the lake.  Check out the pic the bird is flying with a fish in his claws.

Eagles are easier to spot if you know what to look for.  There are several eagles in our area.  There was a
dead deer carcass in the cloverleaf at Tway exit 26 two years ago... eagles were feeding on the deer for
weeks.  I saw an eagle with a fish in his talons, just west of Cranesville along Rt5.  When he came into view,
he was just above the water gaining speed and altitude.

The eagle silhouette when they are soaring should have much longer wings than body.  If they are low enough
to make out their color, adult eagles have very white head and tail.

I saw a lone eagle on Sacandaga lake a few weeks back as a ice fishing contest was just ending.  there were
minnows and fish parts left on the ice from the contest and once the fishermen left, the eagle had a
buffet of their favorite food... fish!

My Mom and I were at my daughters for my grandsons B-day went out in the yard and that's when we spotted it, that's why I didn't think it was a hawk due to the white head

Wow awesome pictures.  They are such a majestic bird.

Bill Pytlovany has decided to set up an album of his pictures of those he has seen in Scotia. He lives on the hill looking over Collins lake.  Check it out.
