You can try to justify and rationalize it all you want, but the bottom line is you are using energy via fossil fuels STRICTLY in a recreational sense....not only are you using energy unnecessarily, even MORE important and a direct contributor to climate change, you ARE putting more hydrocarbons in the air that you do not need to... that is indisputable...
At present, you can do this legally and you have the right to do so.
But as far as your posts on climate change,. they are posted by someone who talks the talk, but refuses to walk the walk.all your hang wringing doesn't mash with your actions.
I can respect the people that sound the alarm about climate change AND do everything in their power, in EVERY sense, to alleviate its effects.
You, on the other hand, clearly are not. You do only what is convenient for you, just like the limousine liberals.

BTW, I have a computerized thermostat that lowers the temp to 55 during the winter when I am not in the house, which is on average 10 hours a day, and raises to no higher than 64 when I am...

So... if you were to retire, to take up stamp collecting... the temp in your house would be 10 degrees
higher because of your new stamp collecting lifestyle... a total waste of energy!
Sorry TBIRD.  I will do what I can to help the environment, as we all should.
Living a life of a hermit somewhere in a cave is not what modern life is about.
However...
Switching from a oil/gas/coal based energy source, to a primarily solar energy source, would
be a huge step forward in reducing carbon emissions.  That step forward will likely come from
govt/industrial agreements on how to power the earth's needs.

Which brings us to Climate Change.  The Right Wing Deniers are doing all they can to postpone
that advancement.

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

All you got is continuing to justify and rationalize your optional addition of hydrocarbons into the atmosphere...the fact is you AREN'T doing all you can to help the environment...

Living a "modern" life doesn't have to be in a cave. In fact, your idea of a "modern" life is one of the main reasons we are where we are.

I don't know what's worse.. a climate change denier that does so because they don't want to change their lifestyle or a supposed climate change believer who continues to live as they see fit, regardless of environmental damage and expects others to come up with the solutions.

The pope is infallible... He's JC's voice on earth.

If the pope says Climate Change is a threat...

if the US Military says that Climate Change is a serious threat...

if the scientists in the field overwhelmingly say that Climate Change is real and caused by humans...

and the only opposing voice is from Right Wing Politicians...

I'll go with the Jesus Christ's spokesman, and the US Military, and the Science over some lame
Right Winger funded by Big Oil.
  Wouldn't you?

Of course you would follow those who have an agenda to the ends of the Earth.

Literally.

Exxon Knew of Climate Change But Funded Deniers for 27 Years

The Guardian:
Quoted Text
“ExxonMobil, the world’s biggest oil company, knew as early as 1981 of climate change
– seven years before it became a public issue, according to a newly discovered email from
one of the firm’s own scientists. Despite this the firm spent millions over the next 27 years
to promote climate denial.”

“The email from Exxon’s in-house climate expert provides evidence the company was
aware of the connection between fossil fuels and climate change, and the potential for
carbon-cutting regulations that could hurt its bottom line, over a generation ago
– factoring that knowledge into its decision about an enormous gas field in south-east
Asia. The field, off the coast of Indonesia, would have been the single largest source
of global warming pollution at the time.”

“However, Exxon’s public position was marked by continued refusal to acknowledge
the dangers of climate change, even in response to appeals from the Rockefellers,
its founding family, and its continued financial support for climate denial. Over the
years, Exxon spent more than $30m on thinktanks and researchers that promoted
climate denial, according to Greenpeace.”

You do?...Like what?...Put your beer cans in the recycle bin?  Take a cloth bag with you to Price Chopper? Buy carbon credits from the Al Gore (praise be his name) exchange?

What? What must I do to be like you and have no guilt?  Tell me the path to righteousness.

And when you do, can you make it all long, rambling and hardly understandable so I can read it in the voice of Jimmy Swaggart.

Nope, my post history is clear...I believe Climate Change is happening, but I also believe we can do VERY little to stop it. What I object to is the obvious attempt to redistribute wealth in the name of Climate Change.

Also, What I don't do is put up posts lambasting deniers, while at the same time, being a hypocrite by blatantly burning hydrocarbons unnecessarily...similar to like minded liberals such as John Travolta and his private Aircraft (including a DC-3), and Ben Affleck, whose last flight on a commercial plane was 20 years ago....

Of course you have no guilt, because you're of the "do as I say not as I do" crowd
Your environmental logic is the equivalent of someone who says they are on diet, starving themselves for Breakfast and lunch, just so they can gorge themselves on Dinner...You may THINK you're environmentally conscious, but you're just treading water when you burn those optional hydrocarbons...

I hate to use the phrase "what difference does it make", because it has been poisoned for me, but seriously, does it matter at all whether people SAY they believe in Climate Change or not, and if it does, to whom, and why?
I don't know anyone who lives a more "eco-friendly" lifestyle than I do. It's what I choose to do, for my own reasons. I am quite all right with those who have their own views on the climate issue, especially because I notice that the ones who yell the loudest about the "Deniers" tend to have very similar lifestyles to them, in terms of energy consumption. In fact, a lot of the "bitter clingers" I am proud to call my friends have much more conservative lifestyles than the pseudo liberals who espouse values they aren't willing to live by themselves.
A lot of the climate alarmism is based on the "hockey stick". The hockey stick is problematic.
I tend to agree with 55bird. I think that whether climate change is man-made or not, a lot of what we are seeing is an attempt to use it for political reasons.
I don't think it's right-wing, left-wing issue either, I think the majority of people don't give it all that much thought.

Swaggart??? Wasn't he one of your lunatic Right Wingers???
"I have sinned, sob, sniff (tears running down his cheeks)"

An exercise in futility... you can lead a Conservative to the FACTS, but you can't make him
understand them!

Here's a start:
Quoted Text
Reduce the Carbon Footprint of Your Home

Programmable thermostat – Costs about $50 or less and will save you that much or more in the first year.
Weatherstripping and Caulking – Costs almost nothing while reducing your energy use, reducing drafts and improving comfort.

Lighting – Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) have that cool curly shape and save more than 2/3rds of the energy of a regular incandescent.  Each bulb can save $40 or more over its lifetime.  Read the box or instructions for safe disposal.

Heating and Cooling - Keep your heating and cooling system(s) tuned.  When it’s time to replace, do your research and ask for ENERGY STAR.
Insulation – Weatherstripping, caulking and insulation work together to save you energy, improve the comfort of your home, make it quieter and help you save money.
Water-Conserving Showerheads & Toilets – You can reduce water and heating costs, even in your bathroom. To save even more water, turn the faucet off when brushing or shaving. These simple changes and steps can save many thousands of gallons of water annually.

Appliances – Always pay attention to the total lifetime cost, including energy—not just the price tag.  Look for the ENERGY STAR label (check out energystar.gov).
Bigger isn’t always better - Just get the size you need; do you really need that extra refrigerator in the basement?
Electronics – Likewise, look for ENERGY STAR. And do like your Mom said- turn things off. If you’re going away or not using an item for awhile, unplug it to prevent “vampire” energy loss from electricity usage on standby.

Windows – These can be expensive, but when it’s time to replace them, make sure they are ENERGY STAR rated.
Solar – We love solar, but make sure you reduce your energy load first to keep your costs down.
New Home – Consider an energy-efficient ENERGY STAR Home.

Reduce the Carbon Footprint of Your Office

Enable your power management - so your computer and monitor shut down.
Consider using ePlusGreen’s PC energy-saving technology - The system monitors/minimizes computer and printer energy usage.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Do you need to print?- Consider saving a file on your computer, in a flash drive or emailing it.
Double-side print - Saves paper too.
Can you carpool or transit or bike to work?  See above.
Open up - If you have windows you can open, use them to intelligently save energy.
Turn ‘em off - Only use the lights you need.  If you’re using your computer you may not need your office lights on too.
Occupancy sensors - Shut off lights in unused rooms.  Better, get your building to install occupancy sensors.
Bring your lunch - Or walk to the local eatery instead of driving.

Reduce the Carbon Footprint of Your Life

Only 40% of the average American’s carbon footprint is due to their direct energy use. The other 60% is indirect; it comes from everything we buy and use—goods and services. Pay attention to your consumption and waste habits, and you’ll find lots of opportunities to conserve.

Reduce.  Reuse.  Recycle.
You’ve heard it before, but it’s still great advice. Manufacturing products produces an average 4-8 pounds of CO2 for every pound of manufactured product.

Stop your junk mail with the help of 41pounds, a nonprofit service that contacts dozens of direct mailers to remove your name from their lists.
Buy locally if possible. Shipping burns fuel. A 5-pound package shipped by air across the country creates 12 pounds of CO2 (3 ½ pounds if shipped by truck).
Eat less meat. If you’re already a vegetarian, you save at least 3,000 pounds of CO2 per year compared to meat eaters. If you’re not a vegetarian, just increase the number of vegetarian meals you eat each week by one or two. Also, poultry is less greenhouse gas intensive than beef.
Don’t waste food. Mom was right. About one-quarter of all the food prepared annually in the U.S., for example, gets tossed, producing methane in landfills as well as carbon emissions from transporting wasted food.

Yes... Pope Francis... Idiotic brainless dimwit...

Following high school graduation, Pope Francis enrolled at the University of Buenos Aires,
where he earned a degree in chemistry before beginning training at the Jesuit
seminary of Villa Devoto. In March 1958, he entered the Society of Jesus.
He went on to attend the Philosophical and Theological Faculty of San Miguel,
where he earned a degree in philosophy, and later received a
doctorate in theology in Freiburg, Germany.

Just a idiotic, brainless dimwit!
