Auburn (WSYR-TV) - An Auburn manufacturer announced on Wednesday that it would close its local facility and move the operation out of New York State, according to a company official.

Hundreds of people will be left jobless by the closure of Daikin McQuay's plant in Auburn.

"We notified our employees first that this change will take place," said Vice President of Marketing Don Winter.

The company says the plant will begin transitioning to another facility in April 2013 and close its doors by the end of 2014.

The operation is moving to another facility owned by the parent company in Fayetteville, Tenn. Daikin McQuay acquired the Tennessee plant in 2012.

McQuay International is owned by Daikin Industries.

McQuay, which is centered in Minneapolis, manufactures heating, ventilation, and air conditioning products.

DAIKIN is a Japanese Company that has been growing in the industry through acquisitions. They have been very aggressive in courting companies you buy, with a desire to be a major player in the US market too.  They have made tremendous inroads globally over the past 10 years, growing and taking market share from others and being the influence as to why some previous powerful players have left certain markets.
