I don't agree with Rush much, but this makes perfect sense.  The guy says he has a .50 caliber so if you are one of those people that over react and want to protect your family, all you really need is a gun that holds 7 rounds.  The cops will protect you.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if other disgruntled Vets teamed up with Dorner in his war against the police.

The police may find themselves outgunned and unprepared.

Perhaps the weapons restricted citizens would come to their aide with some pea shooters?

While an impressive weapon, it's also a very impractical one.

At 30lbs (without ammo) and a lenth of between 4' and nearly 5' (depending on the barrel size) makes this rifle large, heavy and bulky to go running around with. Add in the fact that he would also have to carry ammo for it and those big shells weigh alot.
