He still polls well in NY, but he also dropped 15%. That includes a 16% among independents and 8% among democrat. Gun grabbing isn't a popular position.
Yea. How's he ever going to get re elected with ONLY 59% of the vote?

My post was about national politics. Yes, I agree, his gun grabbing legislation in New York may not be as unpopular than other states. But in a primary against Hillary Clinton in less left wing state, this could hurt him.
BTW...He dropped 15% in 1 week. This issue isn't completely behind him. He could sink lower.
I know it's a little off topic, but I thought it might be an interesting question. Does anybody think that Cuomo was duped into pushing for this unpopular legislation in order to hurt his chances in 2016? If you notice, Hillary Clinton has been virtually silent during this whole gun control debate. It's as if she made a calculated decision to keep a low profile on the issue while her most probable opponent took an EXTREME position that would hurt him during a national primary, in places like Iowa and South Carolina.
I may not agree with the Clinton political philosophy, but they are brilliant at the political chess match.
I think Cuomo's posse thought this brainstorm up all by themselves.
I think he really thought the rest of the country would rally behind him, instead of in his face.
