Immigration, a process that brought all of US to America including Native Americans 10,000 or so years ago. America(s) is a place where people came from other places, if you study Europe's history you realize they are nations of immigrants also. The issue is how did we come to be we are are at now.
Native Americans came here 10,000 years ago before a time of national borders. Anglo-Saxons made the trip 400 years ago, the Native Americans viewed the Europeans as visitors, the Europeans viewed North America & Indians as open to exploitation. This story is repeated down through history, race, color, creeds of the good guys & bad guys changes but the story is the same.
No one in their right mind can imagine that millions of illegal aliens should be deported other than gang members & known criminals. Such a mass deportation would be a crime against humanity.
One aspect of the presence of so many here in America illegally bothers me most. The illegals by coming across our border outside the rule of law broke the law. This demonstrates a disregard for American law & sovereignty. There was complicity in political & corporate circles - in America. The political & corporate illegals will never be held accountable for their crimes.
I have a question to the illegal community, soon to be Americans, what American law, bill of right, constitution will you disregard next when it suits you? The illegals have built their American dream on a lie, a deception, no good will come of this. This is an absolute that transcends the collective lies & half truths of every politician that has ever existed or ever will. Mark that down on your Green card fellow Americans.
Without government welfare systems paid through compulsory taxation, immigration would not be such a political hot button issue. The fact illegal immigrants are granted the right to public programs causing finanical strains on these systems that are primarily funded by the legal citizens makes it political dynamite. You get rid of welfare system(yes all L4L, even corporate), this would only be an issue for the small percentage of hard core nationalists. Free markets would correct this problem.

I would allow anyone to freely enter the country with a condition that they pay taxes every year and after 10 years they would be eligible to take the test for citizenship and benefits. I welcome anyone wishing to pay taxes.
Corporations are not citizens. They should get nothing.
Foreign countries are not citizens and they should get nothing.
It's like the elected representatives don't care who they give our money to except to the citizens, because it gets in their way of making their friends rich.

I can't agree with this part because after 10 years and they are legal to vote, in a bid for political power, a political party will use the immigrants that paid taxes and didn't receive benefits as a wedge issue to divide us. They will divide them into a separate voting block and perpetuate the cycle. That's just how politics works. Free markets and voluntary charity for the disadvantaged or less fortunate is the only way to take this out of the realm of politics.
