PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- One person was shot in the leg during an exchange of gunfire in Providence overnight.

The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. near the intersection of Friendship and Richmond Streets.

After receiving a description of the suspect vehicle, Commander Thomas Oates said officers pulled over a car a few blocks away on Broad St. The seven people inside, some of them from Lynn, Massachusetts, were then taken into custody.

Oates said officers also found a .40 caliber pistol with obliterated serial numbers in the car.

While there was no shooting victim at the Providence scene, Oates said investigators received a call from police in Salem, Mass., who reported a 20-year-old man was being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg in an emergency room in Lynn.

Oates said the victim was uncooperative with police.

After being questioned by Providence investigators, some of those arrested on Broad St. were released. Oates said others were held on warrants.

He said multiple shell casings were found at the Providence scene and that those casings could be from three different guns, suggesting an exchange of gunfire took place.

Oates said charges will be filed in the overnight incident.

A New Bedford man changed his clothes before he returned to the scene of a shooting where police were looking for him, but apparently didn’t think to remove the .45-caliber Smith and Wesson handgun from his waistband, police said.

New Bedford detectives arrested Okee Rodriquez Tuesday on illegal gun possession charges when witnesses pointed him out as the person who fired multiple times into a speeding white car, police said in a statement.

Police said it was not known if Rodriquez hit the white car, but they did find seven spent shell casings from a .45-caliber handgun near a car parked near Tinkham and Church streets.

While police were still at the scene, Rodriquez showed up and was quickly recognized as a shooting suspect by detectives, police said. When officers took him into custody, they performed a standard patdown of Rodriquez, police said.

Stuffed into his waistband was the .45-caliber pistol, which was seized by officers.

Rodriquez is to be arraigned today in New Bedford District Court on charges of unlawfully carrying a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm with obliterated serial numbers, and malicious destruction of personal property.

Man accused of murder after shooting victim dies; brother also injured

PASCAGOULA - Police have arrested a Pascagoula man in connection with a shooting of two brothers early Sunday
morning outside the Progressive Club on Convent Avenue.

Adrian Orville Moore of School Avenue was arrested today when Pascagoula Police executed a search and arrest
warrant at his home.

Moore was charged with murder and aggravated assault after Hardy Parker, Jr., 51, died from gun shot wounds.
Parker's brother, Alfred Durden Jr., 46, is listed in stable condition at Singing River Hospital.

Police said he was taken into custody without incident after police said he was identified by the shooting victims as
the person who assaulted them.

He is being held in the Pascagoula Jail and is awaiting an initial appearance before Judge Michael Fondren.

Moore is out on bond from a July 2002 aggravated assault charge.

The shooting occured at 7:24 a.m. Saturday outside the Progressive Club, which police said has been closed for years.

The victims are both from Pascagoula.

One of the brothers called 911 at 1:20 a.m. Saturday. Pascagoula Police responded and found a man standing near
Convent Avenue at Pascagoula Street, bleeding from an apparent gunshot wound.

The man told police he and his brother were walking on the east side of the Progressive Club when an assailant
approached them and began shooting.

The brothers were transported to Singing River Hospital by Acadian Ambulance.

And yes, the constitutionality is decided by each citizen.

In the past 24 hours, sheriffs in Arizona, California and Colorado have publicly and explicitly stated that they
will not enforce proposed federal gun control laws sought by President Obama. Speaking directly to the President's
Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 proposals, these sheriffs have made their support of Second Amendment rights
unequivocally clear:

    El Dorado County, California Sheriff John D’Agostini, according to local news station KRNV on Jan. 19,
2013 ("The purpose of this letter is to go on record of re-affirming my oath of office and making it clear that I
and my staff will never violate [our oath of office] by being pressured into enforcing any unconstitutional provision,
law or executive order.");
    Fresno County, California Sheriff Margaret Mims, according to local news station KFSN on Jan. 18, 2013
("So I have sent a letter to the White House saying I will not enforce any unconstitutional gun control laws.");
    Yavapai, Arizona Sheriff Scott Mascher, according to a Jan. 18, 2013 internal Sheriff memorandum published
by media outlet Reason ("As Sheriff, I refuse to participate or cooperate with any unconstitutional order that will
infringe upon our 2nd amendment rights."); and

This brings the total, verified number of sheriffs who have specifically pledged not enforce President Obama's
proposed federal gun laws to 39. To a person, they consider President Obama's current gun control proposals
unconstitutional and an illegal infringement of Second Amendment rights. We provide that list to you below. The
