As I recall neither NY or Conn gun owners registered very many assault weapons so how good is the new law.
Yup the reports state that only 3-5% of gun owners in NY registered their guns, making the SAFE ACT one of the most disobeyed laws in the history of this country

The ones that registered their guns were police officers or corrections officers, if they didn't they would lose their jobs because the law makes them a felon if the didn't.

90% of all guns used in city crimes in 2011 came from out-of-state, which was a 4% increase from the previous year.
Why would a criminal buy guns from out of state? Why would he not just go to his local GunHugger shop and pick up one on his own? BECAUSE NY HAS SOME GOOD GUN LAWS THAT PREVENT HIM FROM BUYING THEM IN NY! (Of Course) SO... if all states had the same gun laws as NYS, where would these criminals buy their guns???

NYS has only registered 3% to 5% of the assault weapons that are in NYS, even though NYS passed one of the toughest laws against guns in the country. Yes the price of guns has been greatly increased but they are still available. Did the strict laws keep alcohol from being produced, or drugs from entering the country using your logic?

No YOU are missing the point. If NY Criminals have to resort to importing guns into the state, at an inflated price... It means NY Gun Laws Work If you want a pistol in NY, you must apply for a pistol permit. In no or weak gun law states... all you need is the cash$$$

All they have done is to make a black market for guns and the prices paid for them has gone up. Your last statement of the criminals getting guns being greatly diminished is a supposition on your part. It didn't stop alcohol from being produced during prohibition and the drug problem today is worse than ever.

You are making the assumption that the gun crimes committed in NYC that you referenced on your map, were actually committed by NYS/NYC residents. Those guns crimes could have been committed by non residents. There is incomplete data to draw a conclusion about the effectiveness of NYS gun laws.
