The new state legislation will:

* Limit ammunition clips to seven. It’s now 10

* Force gun owners to renew their licenses every five years This one is just to fleece more money from the residents because NYS is broke.

* Stiffen penalties for using a gun in the commission of a crime

* Stiffen penalties for bringing a gun on school property

* New restrictions on the assault weapons already owned by New Yorkers

“They will be basically not permitted to be transferred. They will be grandfathered in but not in terms of a transfer. There will be a registry,” Silver said.

Many guns have a magazine tube built into the weapon, so in other words this will be illegal

So how is this going to stop crime Box, how many criminals on the street have a permit, just one more attack on the LAW ABIDING CITIZEN.

* Stiffen penalties for using a gun in the commission of a crime.
While I have no problem with this history has shown tougher penalties do nothing to reduce crime, many gun crimes already carry possible life sentences. The problem is they're trying to attack the tool used not the persons actions.

LMAO yeah that is going to stop the mass shooters in their tracks, just ignore the fact that most of the school shooters blew their heads off after killing everyone.

Again it pretty much states this is a attack on the LAW ABIDING CITIZEN, it does nothing to get illegal guns off the streets, how many criminals will obey the new restrictions....zero.

Lets be honest this is not going to work, nobody is going to register their firearms

The quickest way for a government to become useless is to pass laws nobody will obey, looking around other sites it appears not one NewYorker is going to obey these laws. Here is a statement by Senator Greg Ball "We haven't saved any lives tonight, except one: the political life of a governor who wants to be president," said Ball who represents part of the Hudson Valley. "We have taken an entire category of firearms that are currently legal that are in the homes of law-abiding, tax paying citizens. ... We are now turning those law-abiding citizens into criminals."

Most of Senders post, once read, you know less than when you started.  It's like it's written in a
foreign language.

The state government never pretended this was about "gun violence"; it was always about gun OWNERSHIP.  That is the same with the national debate; it isn't about reducing gun violence but rather restricting gun ownership.  One has nothing to do with the other. Just like that sham called the "war on drugs", it isn't illegal to consume drugs, it is only illegal to possess them.  Look how successful the war on drugs is.

Good point, the whole plan is to have a defenseless population, sick part is they use the death of kids to further their agenda, they have no shame.

The first step to disarming the people is to register all guns so they know where to go when they pass the next law to forbid their ownership.

YUP!  You're a success in the NRA FEAR Campaign... and by your post IT WORKED VERY WELL!

According to the US Supreme court, the 2nd amendment is NOT an unlimited law... allowing any gun
to anyone.

If I owned a shotgun or a deer rifle or a pistol that was legal before the new NY gun law... it's still
legal now.

But be sure to go to your window and yell:

OBAMA'S TAKING OUR GUNS AWAY... The NRA (and their bosses the gun makers, will love you)

Wrong, Box... If the gun has a clip larger than 10 bullets, you MUST sell the clip out of state within a year, making your gun useless...unless you buy a new clip.
And your "assault weapon" only legal for you in NYS...you can't transfer ownership in the state.
