I've known a few Schenectady cops over the years

And your point, so do I and they are good people, that doesn't mean I trust my life or safety to them. If someone is assaulting you do you fight back or do you wait 15 minutes for the cop who is half way across the city to come save you. People need to realize that cops rarely stop crimes, 95% of the time they show up after the crime has been committed, you might like those odds box but I don't.

The police have no obligation to protect anyone except themselves.

The courts have made it clear.

Tell that to the idiots who want only cops to be able to protect the people

1.Why does SWAT and other Government Agencies need "assault weapons"?
2.  What do they fear?
And
3. if they do fear a threat, shouldn't the public be equipped with the same weapons the Government
Agents have to protect themselves?

1. & 2.Why does SWAT and other Government Agencies need "assault weapons"?
2.  What do they fear?

3. if they do fear a threat, shouldn't the public be equipped with the same weapons the Government
Agents have to protect themselves?

~No.  The public was intermixed with the gunmen in this shootout, and not the TARGET of the shooters.
The police were the reason the criminals carried assualt weapons and body armor, not the bank employees
or by standers.
See below:
*On June 14, 1995, the pair ambushed a Brinks armored car, killing one guard, Herman Cook,
in the robbery.
No one else was injured.
*In May 1996, they robbed two branches of Bank of America in the San Fernando Valley area of Los
Angeles, CA, stealing approximately US$1.5 million.
No one was injured.
*Both robbers were killed, eleven police officers and seven civilians were injured, and numerous vehicles
and other property were damaged or destroyed by the nearly 2,000 rounds of ammunition fired.  The
police were the bank robbers targets, the seven civilians injured were not targeted but injured in the
crossfire.  Many other civilians unaware of the shootout drove past the shooters and were not targeted.
The police were clearly the targets... not civilians.

An inventory of the weapons used: An AR-15 converted to fire automatically with two 100-round
Beta Magazines, a semiautomatic HK-91 rifle with several 30-round magazines, a Beretta 92FS Inox with
several magazines, and three different AK-47 rifles converted to fire in fully automatic mode with several
75 to 100-round drum magazines, as well as 30 round box magazines. It is speculated that at least two
of the AK-47s were later found to have been legally purchased by Phillips, and apparently converted by
him as well using a bench drill to drill out the hole for the auto sear pin (this allowed it to be fired in full
auto).

Interestingly, much of the weapons and magazines used in this robbery would be outlawed in
the proposed 2013 assualt weapons ban.

So your premise is that outlawing something means it is unattainable?

Worked great with drugs, why not try it with guns.

Go and Youtube Waco Texas Branch Davidian if you want to see what happens when "assault weapons" are used against civilians.

"OBAMAS Gonna Take Your Guns" isn't coming from me... it's coming from the Paranoid Right Wing...
who is getting richer and richer selling guns to the petrified citizens who believe their crap.

"Interestingly, much of the weapons and magazines used in this robbery would be outlawed in
the proposed 2013 assualt weapons ban."

Both these lines came from Box and he wonders why guns are flying off the shelves at record speed. As you see he is trying to bluff the people into believing their 2nd amendment is safe even though him and his fellow nazis are ready to stick a knife in your back.

Oh yea... The Wackos of Waco... if they took my advice and purchased a few dozen ONTOS, they'd have the
Feds outgunned...
  Firepower escalation, phase 1.

Then the Feds would be outgunned... and they'd return with an Abrams tank
  Firepower escalation, phase 2

The Daffy Davidians, again outgunned, would man up with a few anti tank A-10 Warthogs.
  Firepower escalation, phase 3

Really pissin off the Feds... they'd shoot down the Dravidian A-10's with their Surface to Air missiles.
Firepower escalation, phase 4

The Crazies at Waco... those still left alive, would then use their final solution... They'd go Nuclear!
Firepower escalation, phase 5

Blowing up the attacking Feds and most of Texas...
All because Cic didn't want to ban assualt weapons!
:P

Today Henry, it is illegal for American civilians to purchase fully automatic weapons.
Is that a restriction on your 2nd amendment rights???
How about RPG's, or grenades?
How about your own personal flame thrower... Do we all have a 2nd amendment right to flame throwers???
Cic wants to match the Govt's weapons...
and
The Govt has Nukes...
so...
IS IT A VIOLATION OF MY 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS FOR THE FEDS TO BAN MY NUCLEAR BOMBS???

If assualt weapons cannot be banned... then carry it down the road to Nukes...  and you'll see
how ridiculous your argument sounds to rational people.

The founding fathers used flintlocks and muskets.

The government didn't start banning guns when revolvers and semi automatics came around.

It wasn't until prohibition and gangster wars that guns became dangerous.

Which of course the prohibition itself was the cause of the gangster wars.

Then the drug war with life sentences repeated the past causing another cycle of gangster wars.

Once again you know jack sh1t about the laws, fully automatic firearms are legal for civilians to own in many states, whats wrong your liberal sites didn't tell you that one. Why do I even bother, matter of fact I won't bother with you anymore on this subject, you have repeatedly shown you know nothing about the laws or the rights Americans have. And to think this guy took an oath to defend us, what a joke that is

Box, you haven't answered why government agencies need superior firepower than citizens?  They've escalated the arms race first.

Of course that fact is OBVIOUS... this is what Nevada buys with it's Shoot em Up gun laws:
STATES WITH THE HIGHEST GUN DEATH RATES
Gun death rate per 100,000
1. Louisiana: 19.87. Household gun ownership: 45.6 percent
2. Mississippi: 18.32. Household gun ownership: 54.3 percent
3. Alaska: 17.62. Household gun ownership: 60.6 percent
4. Alabama: 17.55. Household gun ownership: 57.2 percent
5. Nevada: 16.21. Household gun ownership: 31.5 percent
