A father and son were shot during a home invasion in Tukwila Monday morning.
According to police, officers responded just after 1 a.m. for reports of a home invasion where a man in his 50s had been shot in the chest and his 20-year-old son was shot in the leg at an apartment complex near the intersection of South 158th Street and 39th Place South.
Police said they did not know the motive for the shooting, but said there was some type of struggle between the homeowner and the suspect before the shooting.
Police set up a perimeter around the apartment complex and quickly took the suspect into custody without incident.
Police say the suspect was also injured during the incident.
Both father and son were transported to Harborview Medical Center and are expected to survive.
Police arrest man they say shot robbery victim Print Email 2 hours ago • By the Lincoln Journal Star
Lincoln police on Friday captured the teenager they believe shot a man a week and a half ago during a failed robbery.
Alontae Aaron Ramone Ross, 17, and Luis Alberto Diaz, 18, allegedly burst into an apartment in the 1800 block of Garfield Street about 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 31 and demanded money, Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood said.
The residents there refused and Ross allegedly shot a 28-year-old man in the stomach, Flood said. Ross and Diaz were acquainted with the victim, she added.
Officers pulled Ross over around 8 p.m. Friday near 44th and Calvert streets during a traffic stop, Flood said. They jailed him in the Lancaster County Youth Services Center on suspicion of first-degree assault, attempted robbery and using a firearm to commit a felony.
A day later, they pulled Diaz over about 3 p.m. at Sun Valley Boulevard and West O Street, Flood said. They jailed him on suspicion of attempted robbery as well as aiding and abetting first-degree assault.
Flood said the 28-year-old shooting victim survived his wounds and was released from the hospital.
72-Year-Old Woman Shot 3 Times In Her Home Of 40 Years Feb 9, 2013
72 year old woman shot in detroitA gunman broke into a 72-year-old woman’s home around 5 a.m. Friday, shot her three times and fled the scene, Fox 2 News Detroit reports.
Though, the heavy snow that fell over the city the night before may have helped the cops nab the suspect. Fresh foot prints in the snow lead police directly to an abandoned home several blocks away. The side door was open. Cops then followed wet foot prints on the floor to an old furnace box where they found a 23-year-old male hiding inside and arrested him.
The woman, identified by Channel News 4 Detroit as Thelma Truesdale, is hospitalized in serious condition. She lived in the home for 45 years.
(Reports vary on the exact number of years she has lived in the home. Fox 2 News says nearly 40 years. )
Scott Jackson, 18, who lives in the neighborhood, says he is disgusted by the shooting.
“That should never happen, they should get a job,” Jackson said. “These young guys need to get out here and shovel some snow and do something constructive with themselves instead of hurting these women, these old ladies… you know…it’s not right.”
April Robinson, who also lives in the neighborhood, was surprised by the shooting.
“The area’s good, the neighbors are good, people look out for each other..(sigh)…it’s just sometimes you think you feel safe, you want to be safe, but then there’s other people who doesn’t care… they don’t care.”
Crain’s Detroit Business reports the city recorded 386 criminal homicides in 2012, up from 344 in 2011. Though, when compared to 2011, Detroit did see a 2.63 percent dip in major crimes last year, which included aggravated assault, burglary, larceny, unlawful driving away of an automobile, rape and robbery.
But the city is not getting off to a very good start in 2013; Detroit has already recorded 32 homicides as of Feb. 3, according to statistics provided by the Detroit Police Department.
Ike Betts, a Detroit resident, has a fatalistic perspective on the violence that is troubling his hometown: “In the city of Detroit, you hear gunshots, but in the city of Detroit, that’s like a doorbell. You don’t really pay it too much mind like if you were staying in Bloomfield or Ferndale (both suburbs of Detroit).”

According to the release, Travis Smith, one of the people inside at the home, told police one of the suspects put a gun in his face. He reportedly then tried to swat it away. At that time, Smith said the suspect fired four shots at him, striking him in the hand and shoulder, according to the release.
Smith was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment. His injuries are non-life threatening, according to police.

America supports these gun control measures... no amount of DRAMA on the part of OCD posters will change that fact.

unfortunately SOME Americans do...because their line of thought was given them from the outset of their public schooling and the metal threads woven into their grey matter so that at anytime they can be pulled to slice and dice their own personhood.....
you will reap what you sow....if it's fear and a 'common' enemy that you were told exists then by all means, make cake
the DRAMA which took play in Newtown is sad....but that's life and we are that fallible regardless of laws that pretend to know what the crytal ball says....
"we have decreased FUTURE alcohol related vehicle deaths by 10%" "we have decreased FUTURE gun related deaths by 10%" "we have decreased FUTURE knife related murders by 10%"
are ya gettin' it yet?????
they are YOUR gods.....
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS

No they are not. The thread is about reasonable gun control measures. If you are a law abiding citizen, nothing in these controls will inhibit you from your sacred HOME DEFENSE. You just keep playing your COPS theme so long that you lose all track of what you are posting:
1. Requiring criminal background checks on gun owners and gun shop employees. has nothing to do with your posts and nothing in these controls will inhibit you from your sacred HOME DEFENSE.

3. Mandating that gun-owners tell the police when their gun is stolen. nothing in these controls will inhibit you from your sacred HOME DEFENSE.
4. Concealed carry permits should only be restricted to individuals who have completed a safety training course and are 21 and older. Unless you are 20 or a teen... nothing in these controls will inhibit you from your sacred HOME DEFENSE.
5. Concealed carry permits shouldn't be given to perpetrators of violent misdemeanors or individuals arrested for domestic violence. Unless you are a violent criminal or domestic abuser... nothing in these controls will inhibit you from your sacred HOME DEFENSE.

I disagree.
I am the NRA and I don't support your gun control ideas, because you lump too much stuff together.
I disagree because I do not wish the government to have a massive database containing the name and address of every gun.
I disagree because Cuomo already went to far, so I will oppose any new gun control legislation.
No new gun laws.
Because you gun grabbers already took reasonable off the table.
