Sure, if you wish...but with the wonderful ban, we shouldn't need it , right??

And, golly gee, what do we do with the 300 million or so already out in the streets?

There are no hard numbers that I can find but estimates are a few hundred thousand AR15's
estimate by production numbers, minus export... not 300 million.

NO, NO, NO.... The NEW definition of an assault weapon, hereby declared by Prince Andrew, is ANY gun with a magazine of more than seven shots...I'm betting it's a tad more than a few hundred thousand...

I think AK-47's are are assault weapons also...they're Russian right???Made now by China, North Korea, and Central America?? Good luck with that "ban"

You are mixing 'gun bans' with 'magazine bans'.  Many bottom entry rifles will accept very large capacity
magazines...  The capacity of the magazine is what is banned. Many bold action hunting rifles could accept
a large capacity magazine... that doesn't make them an assault weapon.

Duhhhh. You got the rag on today or something???

If I could pass a law to limit assault weapons to school shooters, I'd do it.  Because it didn't apply
to drug dealers is not the point.

If I could pass a law to limit assault weapons to drug dealers (and not school shooters) I'd still do it.

If you want one law that fits all applications and is absolutely perfect... then please write one and
share it with the rest of us.

ONE MORE TIME..
It's magazine clips PERIOD, not ASSAULT RIFLE MAGAZINE CLIPS specifically....the law does NOT differentiate between the two.
My wife's 22 Browning handgun with a stock ten shot clip will now be illegal if loaded with more than seven bullets..

BTW, It's not my law that defines it, blame Prince Andrew and Shabby Shelley for that one.
And where did the term "assault weapon" come from? it's made up by the pols and the press

Pass all the law's you want...if the demand is there, the law will fail...

Prohibition? Just caused more violence and death... FAIL
Illegal Drugs laws? IS causing more violence and death... FAIL
Illegal Immigration? Laws on books with no will to enforce them ... FAIL
Gun Laws?? LOL...

In the past... 22's were exempt from the 1994 assault weapons ban.  I haven't read if they are included
or not in this law... but I doubt it.

If they are... to make your wife's gun legal... you will need to purchase a new smaller magazine.  The gun
is not banned... the over sized magazine is.

The 1994 AWB definition:
Semi-automatic rifles able to accept detachable magazines and two or more of the following:
Folding or telescoping stock
Pistol grip
Bayonet mount
Flash suppressor, or threaded barrel designed to accommodate one
Grenade launcher (more precisely, a muzzle device that enables launching or firing rifle grenades, though this applies only to muzzle mounted grenade launchers and not those mounted externally).

Semi-automatic pistols with detachable magazines and two or more of the following:
Magazine that attaches outside the pistol grip
Threaded barrel to attach barrel extender, flash suppressor, handgrip, or suppressor
Barrel shroud that can be used as a hand-hold
Unloaded weight of 50 oz (1.4 kg) or more
A semi-automatic version of a fully automatic firearm.

Semi-automatic shotguns with two or more of the following:
Folding or telescoping stock
Pistol grip
Fixed capacity of more than 5 rounds
Detachable magazine.

NYState law in effect now:
NYS Penal Law § 265.02(6) makes it a class D felony to possess "a large capacity ammunition feeding
device," which is defined in Penal Law § 265.00(23) as "a magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar
device, manufactured after [September 13, 1994], that has a capacity of, or that can be readily
restored or converted to accept, more than ten rounds of ammunition." Possession of unmarked
"large capacity" magazines made after the sunset of the federal ban thus subject New Yorkers to
felony charges.

You could say that for most laws.  Why pass laws against cheating on your taxes...people will still cheat.
Why put up stop signs... people will still run the sign with out stopping.
Why outlaw anything... it will be ignored.

All exemptions including the 1994 ones are to be eliminated in this law. This is confirmed by multiple media sources and Sheldon Silver himself. They are using a bulldozer to push this law through, they don't want debate. Waiving the three day rule in "interest of public safety" is the biggest piece of bullshit since Lance Armstrong said he didn't juice.

The stock magazine for her Browning is ten bullets. It is not oversized...in fact you'd be pressed to find any stock clip of a new handgun that is legal under the new law.

But this law is being pushed with a false pretense...that it will truly make a difference. They are trying to BS the public that this will prevent another school shooting...
Another huge difference in the laws you mentioned (taxes, stop signs, etc) is we are punishing people who have not broken ANY law.
If you ask the average new yorker what the ban is on, he or she will tell you that is a ban on assault rifles..
you do realize that in 2009 only FOUR of the over 400 homicides in NYS was committed with ANY type of rifle?

Tell me again why any American NEEDS an assault weapon.  Not wants one cause it gives him a boner
and makes him feel like a man... but why does he really NEED IT?
Why does he NEED a 30 round clip?  Other than the reason posted below:
