NY REPUBLICAN Congressman Peter King:
‘I really don’t know why people need assault weapons’
“Listen, I’m sure 99 percent of people with assault weapons are good Americans. But to give that potential to a mass murderer who would be able to outarm the police who as we saw could carry out the worst devastation?”

“Why the issue of an assault weapon should even be on the table, why we want to identify with that when
it’s a vocal minority, but it is a minority who support these weapons.”

http://washington.cbslocal.com.....rifles-shotguns/FBI: Hammers, Clubs Kill More People Than Rifles, Shotguns
January 3, 2013 2:44 PM
WASHINGTON (CBS DC) – Annual FBI crime statistics show that more people are killed with clubs and hammers each year than by rifles or shotguns.

In 2011, there were 323 murders committed with a rifle but 496 murders committed with hammers and clubs. There were 356 murders in which a shotgun was the deadly weapon of choice.

The national debate on guns has grown more intense since Dec. 14, when Adam Lanza forced his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., and killed 20 children and six adults before committing suicide in one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history.

Gun vendors told news outlets that the hottest items were such weapons as the AR-15, a semiautomatic rifle that Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., has proposed banning as part of a package of gun regulations. The AR-15 rifle is the same weapon used by Lanza during the elementary school shooting.

The law currently proposed by Sen. Feinstein would strengthen the expired 1994 “Assault Weapons” ban, outlaw certain rifles and handguns, and restrict “high capacity” magazines, in addition to compulsory gun registration under the National Firearms Act, Reuters reports.

“If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them, Mr. and Mrs. America turn them all in, I would have done it. I could not do that. The votes weren’t here,” Feinstein told MRC-TV in a 1995 interview.

On the other hand, National Rifle Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre called on Congress to pass a law putting armed police officers in every school in America in a December press conference.

The number of FBI background checks required for Americans buying guns set a record in December. According to Reuters, the FBI recorded 2.78 million background checks during the month, surpassing the mark set in November of 2.01 million checks – about a 39 percent rise.

The latest monthly figure was up 49 percent over December 2011, when the FBI performed a then-record 1.86 million checks.

The FBI report concedes that some of the “murder by rifle” statistics should be increased slightly because some murders don’t take non-categorized types of guns into account. However, the data still shows that the amount of people killed by hammers, clubs and other blunt instruments still continues to rise each year.

Even as gun purchases rise, the share of U.S. households with a gun has been falling for decades, from 54 percent in 1977 to 32 percent in 2010, according to the University of Chicago’s General Social Survey.

Marine Writes Letter to Sen. Dianne Feinstein: ‘I will not be disarmed’
A letter written by an 8-year Marine veteran to U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, the architect of the comprehensive 2013 Assault Weapons Ban, has gone viral.

The author of the letter, Cpl. Joshua Boston who was deployed to Afghanistan between 2004-05, told CNN that he opposes gun registration because it will lead to confiscation.  Moreover, that passing more gun control laws will only serve to disarm law-abiding citizens, leaving them defenseless.

“I own the guns I own because I acknowledge mankind’s shortcomings instead of pretending like they don’t exist. There are evil men in this world and there just may be a time when I need to do the unthinkable to protect me or my family,” Boston said.

Here is the letter Boston wrote, courtesy of CNN’s iReport:

Senator Dianne Feinstein,

I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime.

You ma’am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.

I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.

I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.

I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.

We, the people, deserve better than you.

Respectfully Submitted,

Joshua Boston

Cpl, United States Marine Corps

I went to Cicero's link at GUNS.COM...
I read Senator  Feinstein's law...
NO WHERE DOES IT DISCUSS "DISARMING" ANYONE
Read it for yourself below... the law as written doesn't DISARM but that won't keep the Rabid Right from using
that favorite word... "DISARM".
The knee jerk Right Wing Gun Nuts won't read the law... they don't care what is actually in the law...
they will stop when they hear the 'uninformed' shouting "I WILL NOT BE DISARMED"...
Sheeple are sheeple... some are even US Marines like the letter writer.

They Ignore The FACTS and spout Propaganda... and Cicero is a good example of some one repeating the
propaganda in his post.

Here is a brief recap of Sen. Feinstein’s 2013 AWB

• Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:

o 120 specifically-named firearms;

o Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine
and have one or more military characteristics; and

o Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds.

• Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:

o Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test;

o Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics
test; and

o Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to
“work around” prior bans.

• Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.

• Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:

o Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment;

o Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes; and

o Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons.

• Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:

o Background check of owner and any transferee;

o Type and serial number of the firearm;

o Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;

o Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate
State or local law; and

o Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration.

I didn't post the Feinstein video where she admitted she would like to ban all "assault weapons".  That was linked in the article.  But the former marine states clearly that he will not register the grandfathered weapons listed under this bill.  Please tell me what will happen to a citizen with an unregistered weapon?  He will be DISARMED and possibly JAILED.

What happens if you don't register your car?  What happens if you don't obey simple traffic restrictions
and regulations... stopping at stop signs, speed limits, one way streets...
I WILL NOT BE DISARMED... it appears, by reading his letter,  he is already mentally 'DISARMED'.

So Cicero like the rest of the Fanatical Right Wingers (the Wackos of Waco, etc) think that laws are
written for others, not for them.  Little 6 and 7 year old children will continue to die... so that Cicero
can pound his fist and stomp his feet in righteous indignation... "I Will NOT Be DISARMED".

Show me again Cic... where does the law mention DISARMING ANYONE???

A car isn't a guaranteed constitutional right.

Stop signs and speed limits limit the way a car is operated. Just like laws against murder and assault limit how you can usea gun.

Your post of Feinstein's bill doesn't list the penalties.  It also doesn't show that registered guns must be forfeited to the federal government upon the death of the registered owner.  It cannot be transferred.  I don't have to forfeit my carto the federal government when I die.

The last assualt weapon ban didn't DISARM those owning guns at the time the ban was introduced.
Anyone could purchase those guns manufactured before the ban date, none were confiscated.

Yet you post YOUR FEARS instead of the FACTS.

Again... who will DISARM a legal owner of one of these guns???

Owning a howitzer (the right to bear arms?) isn't a RIGHT.  Owning a hand grenade (the right to
bear arms?) isn't a RIGHT.

YOUR POST CONCERNED DISARMING US CITIZENS... you have yet to show any indication that DISARMING
is being proposed.  You just assume, suppose and still haven't posted any FACTS about 'DISARMING'.

Box, it clearly says it bans 120 types of guns.  I am armed today because I can buy those weapons, if you restrict the sale of those weapons you disarm the citizens ability to be armed.  Reducing the capabilities of the arms you can buy is disarming society.

Let's use a subject near and dear to you and maybe you will understand.  Abortion.

Let's say for a minute that legislation is proposed that limits abortion to medical proceedures only and bans the morning after pill.  The bill will grandfather people that have already purchased the morning after pill and will not confiscate them.  But those that don't own the pill will no longer have it made available to them, and the only way they can get an abortion is to register with the federal government, get a background check, and receive the state approved abortion.

Now would restricting the manufacture and sale of the morning after pill and manatory federal registration be a way to reduce abortion over time?  Abortion isn't ban, just government regulated.  And imagine if that legislation was written by a senator that is on the record saying that they would like to ban abortion.

If that happened, your panties would be twisted so far up your a** you would be choking on them.

And box, the guy gave Senator Feinstein his name, rank, and years of military service, as well as the weapons he owns.  Ifthis legislation passes, and he doesn't register his guns, will the ATF come and DISARM him because he publically announced he is not going to register and they know who he is?

He publically challenged the Federal Government to disarm him, to prove they will disarm you.

If the government tries to take the guns by force there will be a big problem for those who knock on the doors to retrieve them.

the marine assumes that everyone is as trained/smart and reliable as himself.....as do most American's think everyone
is the same as themselves....

the question is NOT in the gun ownership/laws/restriction but gets into the conversation on who gets to do what
with which guns/ammo etc.....

those more equal
those more smart
those less smart
those more sane
those less sane
who gets to draw those lines? another 'more sane/smart/equal person'.....the laws always state 'reasonable'....

WTF does that mean? it means it's all a facade.....

America wasn't built on de-equalization---REGARDLESS of your diagnosis.....

so no one is afraid of being disarmed or what ever you want to call it....it's a question of whom we have set up
to be the 'reasonable ones'....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
