But if Box had his way guess what weapon these people would be armed with to protect themselves

Pennsylvania boy, 7, shot, killed at gun store

Sat Dec 8, 2012
MERCER, Pa. — Authorities say a 7-year-old boy was shot to death when a gun accidentally went off as
his father was getting into his truck outside a western Pennsylvania gun store.

The boy was shot Saturday morning at Twigs Reloading Den in East Lackawannock Township, 60 miles
north of Pittsburgh. Store owner Leonard Mohney says it happened in the parking lot.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that the boy was shot when his father’s handgun went off as the
man got into the truck while holding the gun.

Police say 44-year-old Joseph V. Loughrey told them he had emptied the magazine but didn’t realize a bullet
was still in the chamber. Seven-year-old Craig Allen Loughrey was shot in the chest and died at the scene.

State police are investigating the shooting as an accident.

This lady was on the phone for over 10 minutes, like the saying goes when seconds count cops are only minutes away.

Yes Boxy, that's called an accident.

Orange police officer accidentally shoots himself in bar

October 30th, 2012, 1:14 pm

An off-duty Orange police officer, honored for making hundreds of DUI arrests, accidentally shot himself in the leg early Sunday at a local sports bar.

In what police are calling an “accidental discharge,” Officer Justin McGowan shot himself just above the right knee about 2 a.m. Sunday inside the O.C. Sports Grill, 450 N. State College Blvd., said Sgt. Fred Lopez. The bullet changed trajectory after hitting McGowan’s knee and rested in his foot, missing all major arteries, Lopez said.

Police are investigating how McGowan, 28, shot himself with his department-issued, .38-caliber back-up weapon, Lopez said. There is no indication of any criminal involvement or altercation, he said.

“We’re conducting our own investigation. Right now, what we’re concerned about is his health,” Lopez said.

A city official close to the investigation said security video taken at the bar showed that McGowan was standing, with the gun in his pocket and his hand in the same pocket, when it went off.

McGowan, an eight-year veteran at the department, had been drinking alcohol at the bar, but a blood test was not administered until hours after the incident, said the city official.

Boxy will obviously call this a fake because you linked 'Fox News' and NBC didn't have time to edit the 911 call like they did with Trevon

Fullerton police officer accidentally shoots himself in leg

A Fullerton police officer who accidentally shot himself in the leg is recovering and in good condition, authorities said Wednesday.

The officer shot himself about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday "during routine training in the Fullerton Police Department Firearms Range," officials said in a news release.

The officer, who was not identified, suffered only minor injuries from the discharge but was taken to a hospital for treatment, authorities said.

In an email, Jeff Stuart of the Fullerton Police Department said the "weapon accidentally discharged during a training qualification in the shooting range, located at the station."

Stuart said the department is conducting an internal investigation into the incident.

Carrying a gun increases risk of getting shot and killed

Packing heat may backfire. People who carry guns are far likelier to get shot – and killed – than those
who are unarmed, a study of shooting victims in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has found.

Charles Branas's team at the University of Pennsylvania analysed 677 shootings over two-and-a-half
years to discover whether victims were carrying at the time, and compared them to other Philly residents
of similar age, sex and ethnicity. The team also accounted for other potentially confounding differences,
such as the socioeconomic status of their neighbourhood.

Overall, Branas's study found that people who carried guns were 4.5 times as likely to be
shot and 4.2 times as likely to get killed compared with unarmed citizens. When the team looked
at shootings in which victims had a chance to defend themselves, their odds of
getting shot were even higher.

Suspected weapon in child shooting found in city officer's vehicle

March 07, 2012|By Justin Fenton and Peter Hermann, The Baltimore Sun
A Baltimore police officer has been suspended for his "conduct" in the aftermath of the shooting of a 13-year-old girl, and after the weapon police suspect was used in the crime was found in his personal vehicle, according to law enforcement sources.

Police investigators believe the off-duty officer, whose name was not released, was in a relationship with a relative of one of the juvenile suspects charged Monday with involuntary manslaughter, sources said. Investigators are trying to determine whether he advised the juveniles after the shooting occurred.

He is just as dead as if he were murdered.  If his dad wasn't carrying a gun... HIS SON WOULD BE ALIVE!

I bet the dad feels "safer" now doesn't he.  I don't call it an "accident"... I call it Negligent homicide.
