Why are you and your president against a trial to prove the probable cause then?  It may have been justified, but the facts haven't been verified through due process.  You have no desire to allow US citizens check the power of the government to execute a citizen even AFTER THE FACT.
You have homicidal tendencies so I'm not surprised you choose B to support killing without ever having to justify it.

Maybe in an early time... when Governments ran the terror networks, the USA could have used other means
to capture your BFFL Anwar al-Awlaki.  Today, operating in a country where there is little semblance of any
kind of Government... where capture would probably mean dozens of US and US operatives being killed
in the process... capture was almost impossible.
As with a SWAT decision, take the very serious step of killing a US Citizen, or risk the lives of many citizens,
Yemeni agents and our own agents in the field.

To my knowledge, this is the first and only time a US citizen has been targeted with Drones.  Of course
the number of US citizens killed by past US Presidents would probably number in the hundreds if not
thousands through out the world as spies or counter intelligence agents end up vanishing or killed.

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

I'm giving you the argument that it may have been too dangerous to capture Al-Awlaki.  But that is making the presumption that he was guilty of something.  There was no arrest warrant, and no charges of a crime.  All I am suggesting is that AFTER he was executed, in a lawful country, the government at that point should stand trial to prove their case of justifiable homicide.  Al-Awlaki may be a murderous pig, but without a trial and a defense against the charges, what we have is a king executing his subjects.

Bill Clinton targeted BinLaden in the 90's and almost killed him, but decided not to take the risk of killing
unidentified 'others' in the attack.  Bin Laden was never targeted again until after he killed 3500 people
in the Sept 11th attacks.

If today's Predator Drones were available to Clinton, the Sept 11 attacks would have never happened... and
3500 would not have died there.

Somehow this thread got hijacked!  Anyway, back to the issue on gun control and the tragedy in Newtown, where were the trigger locks on these weapons, how about a secured gun cabinet/safe, and ammo stored in a different secured cabinet?  The world has known how lethal these weapons are and the kind of destruction they are capable of since their invention.  If you can't control gun ownership, can't you at least control how they are stored?  If you purchase a gun you have to purchase the appropriate security devices to render them inoperable until the owner decides to use them, and this has to be proven prior to the gun sale.  We can never totally remove all the failsafes but it seems the lethal consequences should support this.  You can buy the gun, but you need to purchase the security they warrant.  My spouse and I don't own guns, but if I had a Glock, its security and safety when not in use would be paramount.  This means no access to the gun except by me, no keys left on a hook for others accessibility.

Great in theory, but when adults still leave a a child in a running car and that child and car go through a garage when he drops it in gear, I have little faith in those adults to secure anything.

Teachers shouldn't have guns for the same reason that jail guards aren't allowed to have guns.
There is far too much of a likelyhood that the gun will end up in the wrong hands.

“I had a lot of bad people after me and I carried a gun every place I went. . . But for me, guns are more than that. In fact, the most important part of guns as far as I’m concerned in my personal life is the recreational aspect of guns.”

When did the US Govt give orders for it's soldiers to kill kids.  The last time that I can think of that happening
was against the American Indians.

If one of your kids died by a drone attack in a undeclared war by a foreign nation I'm sure you would be singing a different tune. Would it make everything alright to you if they tossed you a few thousand dollars and said here is your compensation, we are now even.

No, "we" order soldiers to kill.  Even you ordered the invasion of Iraq.

BTW, US soldier massacred kids during Vietnam - My Lai Massacre - 1968.  Oh yeah, Lincoln order the massacre of southern women and children during the war between the states too.  That was "we" Americans too, not "the government".

There are atrocities in wars, just as there are atrocities in life (Sandy Hook School for example).
The US Govt never ordered My Lai, that was an act of an individual... it was illegal... and should have
been punished with a much stronger sentence, as would any murder.

As we have discussed before, any order that is illegal carries a responsibility to disobey that order. There was
no legal order to murder anyone at My Lai, or IMO, anywhere else in Vietnam.
