Top 10 GMO Foods to Avoid
By Elizabeth Renter, Natural Society
29 July 12

enetically modified foods have been shown to cause harm to humans, animals, and the environmental, and despite growing opposition, more and more foods continue to be genetically altered. It's important to note that steering clear from these foods completely may be difficult, and you should merely try finding other sources than your big chain grocer. If produce is certified USDA-organic, it's non-GMO (or supposed to be!) Also, seek out local farmers and booths at farmer's markets where you can be ensured the crops aren't GMO. Even better, if you are so inclined: Start organic gardening and grow them yourself. Until then, here are the top 10 worst GMO foods for your "do not eat" GMO foods list.

Top 10 Worst GMO Foods for Your GMO Foods List
1. Corn: This is a no-brainer. If you've watched any food documentary, you know corn is highly modified. "As many as half of all U.S. farms growing corn for Monsanto are using genetically modified corn," and much of it is intended for human consumption. Monsanto's GMO corn has been tied to numerous health issues, including weight gain and organ disruption.

2. Soy: Found in tofu, vegetarian products, soybean oil, soy flour, and numerous other products, soy is also modified to resist herbicides. As of now, biotech giant Monsanto still has a tight grasp on the soybean market, with approximately 90 percent of soy being genetically engineered to resist Monsanto's herbicide Roundup. In one single year, 2006, 96.7 million pounds of glyphosate was sprayed on soybeans alone

3. Sugar: According to NaturalNews, genetically-modified sugar beets were introduced to the U.S. market in 2009. Like others, they've been modified by Monsanto to resist herbicides. Monsanto has even had USDA and court-related issues with the planting of it's sugarbeets, being ordered to remove seeds from the soil due to illegal approval.

4. Aspartame: Aspartame is a toxic additive used in numerous food products, and should be avoided for numerous reasons, including the fact that it is created with genetically modified bacteria.

5. Papayas: This one may come as a surprise to all of you tropical-fruit lovers. GMO papayas have been grown in Hawaii for consumption since 1999. Though they can't be sold to countries in the European Union, they are welcome with open arms in the U.S. and Canada.

6. Canola: One of the most chemically altered foods in the U.S. diet, canola oil is obtained from rapeseed through a series of chemical actions.

7. Cotton: Found in cotton oil, cotton originating in India and China in particular has serious risks.

8. Dairy: Your dairy products contain growth hormones, with as many as one-fifth of all dairy cows in America are pumped with these hormones. In fact, Monasnto's health-hazardous rBGH has been banned in 27 countries, but is still in most US cows. If you must drink milk, buy organic.

9. and 10. Zucchini and Yellow Squash: Closely related, these two squash varieties are modified to resist viruses.

The dangers of some of these foods are well-known. The Bt toxin being used in GMO corn, for example, was recently detected in the blood of pregnant women and their babies. But perhaps more frightening are the risks that are still unknown.

With little regulation and safety tests performed by the companies doing the genetic modifications themselves, we have no way of knowing for certain what risks these lab-created foods pose to us outside of what we already know.

The best advice: steer clear of them altogether.

I Am Adam Lanza's Mother
posted by LIZA LONG on SAT, DEC 15, 2012 at 10:51 PM

Michael with a butterfly.
This has been reposted from The Blue Review.

Just imagine how hard it was for this Mom to write this and go public.
Just imagine the pain in her heart knowing she has done all she can do.
Just imagine her precious child has turned into someone she does not know, that she has to fear and protect her other children from.
Now just imagine what goes on in this childs head and heart.
For he knows his mother loves him.
He knows what is right and wrong.
But something went wrong, who knows in gestation, at birth, after birth ?  Something went terribly wrong that made a purely innocent baby begn to
grow and change into a child filled with hate, uncertainty and rage.
Somewhere inside is still that precious sweet child wanting to be set free.

Laws and regulations are not going to help this child full of rage and pain.

Laws and regulations are not going to help this mother get her child back.

Some children grow up in horrible situations, where they are abused and neglected and they go on to become doctors, teachers, laborers, clergy and
never would even consider hurting someone.

Some children grow up with loving caring parents, go to the best schools, and grow up to become mass murderers.

There are no answers.

All of a sudden the news is trying to cover every shooting that is taking place around the country, on yahoo right now a top story is 1 man injured after being shot by gunman lmao, where were these stories 2 weeks ago, oh yeah they didn't care about it then. I love how all this fake outrage comes about only after a large shooting, any other time these leftists don't give a sh*t because they can't play politics with it.

All of you people disgust me. 20 children and 6 adults are dead. Over 100 replies in this thread and not one offering condolences or comfort to those who lost a loved one. Instead you focus on your stupid political agenda's. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. I for one can no longer be part of this disgusting website.

I pray for all those who lost a loved one.

Goodbye and good riddance.

Not to be mean but I highly doubt the families of that shooting are reading this forum. It should be no surprise that politics came up quick, some love these incidents because they can jump on peoples emotions to try to pass gun laws, it is the same thing every time.

VM you are wrong go back and read. Also you never offered condolences until this "last" post of yours
I'm sure everyone here has grieved for the loss of life of these innocent children in their own way.
I'm sure many have cried, many have prayed.......
We don't have to make our grief public but it's there.
As for the politics, it started in the media the same day of the killings, turn on any TV station or talk radio, open a newspaper.
Politics were brought up at the "memorial' last night.

At the podium where clergy from all different faiths offered prayer was the seal of the President of the United States.

The podium should have had a "seal" in rememberence of the lost lives.

Scarborough Makes Compelling Case for Change
Joe Scarborough, a conservative Republican who received the NRA's highest ratings over
four terms in Congress, has changed his mind on gun control.

"It's time for Washington to stop trying to win endless wars overseas while we're
losing the war at home... We must give no more ground... I choose life, and I choose change.
And for the sake of our children, we must do what's right. And for the sake of this great nation
that we love, let's pray to God that we do."

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), who has earned an "A" rating from the National Rifle Association,
said Monday that he wants to bring the powerful pro-gun lobby into the imminent discussion on gun
control, indicating that he would be receptive to an assault weapons ban that Sen. Dianne Feinstein
said she would introduce.

"I don't know anyone in the sporting or hunting arena that goes out with an assault rifle.
I don't know anyone that needs 30 rounds in a clip to go hunting. I mean, these are things that need
to be talked about."

Knee-jerk reaction to a complex problem... Everyone is looking for a quick fix.
IMHO, this would have happened if even if the assault rifle wasn't in play. This kid was odd, but very bright..
Without the assault weapon, he still kills his mother with a handgun. He still gets into the school by shooting the window with a handgun, he can inflict very similar damage with pipe bombs filled with nails.

Do assault guns make massacres easier? sure...Does a ban eliminate them? Not a chance...

Like I said, guns, knives, bombs are only instruments...No one wants to address WHY it is happening, just how....because the reasons for why force us to look at our society and the mistakes we have made.
Acceptance and celebration of violence in popular music, films, and culture needs to be addressed.
The Decision to "mainstream" the mentally ill also needs to be looked at.
The elimination of ALL expressions of FAITH in public schools...
I guarantee you that none of these above are seriously looked at....Mainly because a gun ban is something you can point to and say "see what we did" versus the other reasons which the problems are not as easily rectified.

Tennessee pastor Sam Morris on Sunday told his congregation that the number of mass shooting were
escalating because of schools were government “mind-control centers” that taught “junk about evolution”
and “how to be a homo.”

Meanwhile, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee and Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
agree on the reason for the Newtown school shooting... Not guns, not mental illness, not lack of security...
but Taking God Out Of Schools caused the shootings.

If you remove the people from the GOP that are not religious nuts, and take the members of the Democratic party that are not credit card liberals and then combine them , you might form a new party that could actually fix problems.

Huck hit the board, although he missed the bullseye....the biggest issue is cultural and basic human decency.

Yea!  Prayers in school would have stopped this shooting... Um....
Ask the five little girls shot to death at West Nickel Mines Amish School in Pennsylvania.  They should
have prayed harder to live.
