The wonderful Democratic party threw the blue dog Dems under the bus right after they threatened coerced and arm twisted them to vote for the health-care law  full well knowing that they were from conserative states. Many of the blue dogs lost their jobs because of their vote on health-care in the 2010 election. The Reps still control the house and the house allocates the money so nothing changed.

That's easy.

Corporate America and the rich.

While true, it's not nearly as fun for the sheep as the Dems and Reps blaming each other for everything, while quietly always agreeing to help the richest 2%.

the 'rich' pay taxes up to a certain ceiling and then the rest is theirs, not to mention the sales taxes....

so if I have pudding (a lot of it), I'm required to pay a certain amount of it back up to whatever the limit is, after that I may not
ask for pudding from anyone else, because the pudding I already paid is all I'll get back(my benefits paid into), so what you are
saying is that if I am taxed AGAIN above that limit then my 'benefit' will increase to match that also. Because really the government
is expected to make sure EVERYONE gets back their 'fair share'.

this conversation is nothing more than green eyed jealousy.....shame shame shame.....the conversation between the 1%ers
and 'the rest' is just a 'land grab'.......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

Many Blue Dog Dems lost their election in 2010 running against Republican TeaBaggers.  The Conservatives
of their states dumped them.

"Taxing the rich" has all to do with political positioning and nothing to do with economics.  Historically, taxing the rich doesn't increase federal tax revenue as a percentage of GDP.  Also, taxing the rich doesn't make "the poor" any wealthier. As long as the Federal Reserve has the QE-infinity policy, the 1% as the lefties call them, will maintain their status of the 1%.  The goal of the 1%er's like Buffett is to maintain their position as the 1%.  They want NO COMPETITION.  The politician’s job is to confuse the masses into believing they have the interests of the people by passing legislation that sounds like it will make things more fair and equitable for the 99%.  When those that pay attention know, they are bought and paid for by corporate lobbyist. Like the Affordable Care Act, which is a give-away to the insurance companies, and actually make health care more expensive and insurance companies extremely rich and powerful.

If you raise taxes, the 1% will just end up paying the increased taxes with the new cheap money printed by the Federal Reserve, and as it trickles down to the lower levels, the 99% will feel the inflation.  And in their ignorance, they will continue to wonder why they still feel like they are on the hamster wheel and even backsliding.

The $16 trillion in debt and counting isn't going to be paid off by the "rich".  It will be paid off by the poor and working class - and the establishment Democrats and Republics know that.

If you raise taxes on the 1% they will pay their taxes to the federal govt. just like they did
in the past.

This is how Cicero wants to pay off the debt:
"The $16 trillion in debt and counting isn't going to be paid off by the "rich".  It will be paid off
by the poor and working class"

In truth, it has to be paid off by everyone...That and unavoidable reduction in entitlements.
But Pols in both parties don't have guts to say it, or implement it.

No, it won't be like the past.  They will be paying their higher taxes with MUCH CHEAPER MONEY issued by the Federal Reserve; they will be paying their labor with this CHEAP MONEY.  The near 0% interest rates are unprecedented.  The one percent has access to that money and is the beneficiary of being the first user.

Raising taxes on the rich is just political rhetoric to make the Extremist Leftist Neo-Liberals more popular with the people in lower income brackets.   The FACT is that most of the Extremist Leftist Neo-Liberals in Congress are themselves wealthy and have their wealth hidden in tax shelters.  Obama and the Pelosipalooza - which includes several members of New York's Congressional delegation - have great enmity for successful business people.   It is because they married into money (Pelosi) or are career politicians with fat publicly financed pensions (Obama and many members of Congress) or inherited it through trust funds (the Kennedy family) that they couldn't give a cold bucket of spit whether any other American has the opportunity to get rich or build up wealth to pass to the next generation.

If you read much of what the Right Wingers on this board post... you might assume that they think:

1. The rich should pay a lower tax rate than the middle class.
2. It doesn't matter if the rich pay the same rate or less than the middle class.
3. It doesn't matter if the rich pay any tax at all.  It does matter if the middle class pay their taxes.
4. The rich deserve to pay less tax than the rest of us simply because they are rich.
5. The rich are the 'job creators' in our society.
6. The rich paying a billion dollars in taxes will NOT decrease the debt.  The middle class paying that billion will.

what the whiners miss is the fact that SS is only paid into and up to $300,000 income/yr....after that it's your $$ to do
with what you want....same with any other social program....there is a 'lifetime limit' as to the extraction of what you
have paid in....
those 1%ers should then be able to extract the 'overage of their fair share' when they want to use those fabulous social
programs that are for 'the good of all'.....

what you say is that it is fair if I am a 1%er, to pay someone else's 'extra' fair share.....you see they are pitting one
group against the other.....it has nothing to do with 'fair share'/value and EVERYTHING TO DO WITH ACCESS....

FLAT TAX....KNOW WHO YOU ARE....KNOW YOUR VALUE....KNOW WHERE YOU STAND/FIT IN THE CAST SYSTEM....

fair share is charging the rich more for services......

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

Thank God for the Conservative Blue Dog Democrats (the ONLY Democrats worth voting for) and Republicans who voted against tax increases!

And YOU shake those pom poms to CHEER CHEER for YOUR democrats in Schenectady city and Schenectady county who raise taxes on financially struggling homeowners, and forcing the homeowners to pay for the downtown taxes.   It's the renaissance.   It's the miracle as you and your girl Suzy claim, huh?   Where's the miracle?   Where's the renaissance?   House values plummeting, tax based plummeting, people abandoning their homes in order to flee that which you have been supporting, others try to flee but can't sell their homes because no one--NOT EVEN YOU--are willing to buy a home IN the city.

So what's this hypocrisy of yours?   You've been thanking God for increasing taxes in the city and county to pay for downtown and guess you are acknowledging that the DEM way is NOT working?   I'm right again, as always.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
