How long has it been since advertising for hard liquor returned to television?
It just dawned on me last night what I was seeing. Seriously. I thought booze ads were restricted, like cigarettes.

No, seriously. Recently I have seen commercials for hard liquor. I am trying to remember if previously  (prior to 2012) I noticed any commercials for any alcohol besides beer and wine. Maybe I just don't watch enough shows with that type of sponsor.

Okay, I've been informed that broadcast TV just started running liquor ads within the last year. The liquor industry didn't advertise at all on television until 1996, and most of the advertising has been on cable. Prior to 1996 there was a self-imposed ban on television ads by the industry. I dumped cable before 1996 so I've only just started seeing the ads.
