I worked at walmart for a short stint in the past....what a joke....why do people bother going to a store if they want to haggle like they are at a garage sale or a flea market..... |

they will be hiring for cleanup in NYC and jersey ....$15.00 hr.....or out mid west.....nothing seems to be around NYS....

Would I need experience or have to know someone to get in? I thought those kinds of gigs were self employed guys that hire only friends or guys that stand in front of stores waiting to be picked up in a van. |

heartburnkid, I understand your pain. I had a young friend making the rounds of all the crappy jobs available locally, it was so discouraging for him. Being willing to work hard doesn't count for much any more.
One thing I do know, all of those great jobs 'created' in Schenectady County are illusive. We were looking every time something was announced, but actual jobs never materialized.
I almost hate to make the suggestion, because many times advertised jobs affiliated with schools aren't really available to the general public, but that College of Nanoscale Science and Technology in Albany allegedly has some entry level positions where you don't need a special kind of degree. You might try there. It's the place on Fuller Road that Obama visited.
I'm not sure why places that already have someone in mind for a position advertise anyway, but they do. Even private businesses do it sometimes. |

I spent some time looking for a job this week.
all 'service' jobs......and pretty much crappy pay....at least for this area....can't buy a home in a decent neighborhood at
$15/hour......not if you want to eat and enjoy life |
