Friends of ours live out of state. Their daughter made her confirmation last week, on a week night, at 4:30 in the afternoon.

Well.....in the past when a girl made her confirmation she picked a 'godmother'....the boy picked a 'godfather'....no so in that church anyway. Girl or boy can pick either a godmother or a godfather......

the catholic church apparently wants to get up to snuff with GOV ALMIGHTY and be politically correct!!!
I think the church didn't go far enough....they should also allow openly homosexuals and/or transgenders to be godparents....i mean why not?

Godparents are for Baptism.   When a person is confirmed he or she has a SPONSOR and the sponsor does NOT have to be the same gender as the person being confirmed --- this has been the practice for quite a long time now ... nothing new.
