The United States is threatening nations who oppose Monsanto’s genetically modified (GM) crops with military-style trade wars, according to information obtained and released by the organization WikiLeaks. Nations like France, which have moved to ban one of Monsanto’s GM corn varieties, were requested to be ‘penalized’ by the United States for opposing Monsanto and genetically modified foods. The information reveals just how deep Monsanto’s roots have penetrated key positions within the United States government, with the cables reporting that many U.S. diplomats work directly for Monsanto.

The WikiLeaks cable reveals that in late 2007, the United States ambassador to France and business partner to George W. Bush, Craig Stapleton, requested that the European Union along with particular nations that did not support GMO crops be penalized. Stapleton, who co-owned the Dallas/Fort Worth-based Texas Rangers baseball team with Bush in the 1990s, stated:

“Country team Paris recommends that we calibrate a target retaliation list that causes some pain across the EU since this is a collective responsibility, but that also focuses in part on the worst culprits. The list should be measured rather than vicious and must be sustainable over the long term, since we should not expect an early victory. Moving to retaliation will make clear that the current path has real costs to EU interests and could help strengthen European pro-biotech voices.”

The Leaked Political Agenda Behind Monsanto’s GMO Crops
The ambassador plainly calls for ‘target retaliation’ against nations who are against using Monsanto’s genetically modified corn, admittedly linked to organ damage and environmental devastation. Amazingly, this is not an isolated case. In similar newly released cables, United States diplomats are found to have pushed GMO crops as a strategic government and commercial imperative. Furthermore, the U.S. specifically targeted advisers to the pope, due to the fact that many Catholic bishops and figureheads have openly denounced GMO crops. In fact, the Vatican has openly declared Monsanto’s GMO crops as a ‘new form of slavery’.

“A Martino deputy told us recently that the cardinal had co-operated with embassy Vatican on biotech over the past two years in part to compensate for his vocal disapproval of the Iraq war and its aftermath – to keep relations with the USG [US government] smooth. According to our source, Martino no longer feels the need to take this approach,” says the cable.

Perhaps the most shocking piece of information exposed by the cables is the fact that these U.S. diplomats are actually working directly for biotech corporations like Monsanto. The cables also highlight the relationship between the U.S. and Spain in their conquest to persuade other nations to allow for the expansion of GMO crops. Not only did the Spanish government secretly correspond with the U.S. government on the subject, but the U.S. government actually knew beforehand how Spain would vote before the Spanish biotech commission reported their decision regarding GMO crops. The cable states:

“In response to recent urgent requests by [Spanish rural affairs ministry] state secretary Josep Puxeu and Monsanto, post requests renewed US government support of Spain’s science-based agricultural biotechnology position through high-level US government intervention.”

Monsanto has undoubtedly infiltrated the United States government in order to push their health-endangering agenda, and this has been known long before the release of these WikiLeaks cables. The U.S. is the only place where Monsanto’s synthetic hormone Posilac is still used in roughly 1/3 of all cows, with 27 nations banning the substance over legitimate health concerns. Despite Monsanto’s best attempts at incognito political corruption, nothing can stop the grassroots anti-Monsanto movement that is taking over cities and nations alike.

UN Ambush: India vs. Monsanto
By Cassandra Anderson
October 5, 2011

Dear Indian Farmers:

I am writing to you because your government is trying to fool you.   It was announced that India is suing Monsanto for 'biopiracy'.  They want you to believe that their legal action will stop Monsanto, but it is a trick by your government and the United Nations.  The Environment Support Group (ESG) who initiated the action has close ties to the United Nations- be careful of who you trust.

This case is about Bt Brinjal, a genetically engineered form of eggplant.  Because of your massive outrage over its introduction into the market last year, the Minister of Environment was forced to temporarily ban it from commercial cultivation until the safety issues are resolved.  Bt Brinjal is dangerous.  It was shown to cause liver damage, immune suppression and reproductive disorders when studied in rats.

Your Prime Minister is currently under pressure to commercialize Bt Brinjal and bring it to market.  The ban is only temporary.

Because brinjal is a perennial plant that lives longer than 2 years, it is very vulnerable to contamination.  This means that if Bt Brinjal is allowed to be cultivated, over time, your natural brinjal will become polluted with the Bt Brinjal genes.  Your farms are at grave risk for contamination if the ban against Bt Brinjal is lifted, or if Bt Brinjal is being planted right now in test fields.
Stopping the planting of Bt Brinjal to prevent contamination of farmland is very important because the crop has been shown to be harmful to health in animal studies.

BIOPIRACY

The 'biopiracy' case is weak.  A news report defined biopiracy as stealing indigenous plants and trying to make genetically engineered versions without giving any compensation to the local people or the nation from where it originated.

Suing for biopiracy seems pointless because even if the exact origin of the plant could be proven, who really OWNS a plant that has been around since ancient times?  And who would be compensated?  The government that betrays the public?

Biopiracy means nothing unless a product is commercialized and brought to market.  If Monsanto never brings Bt Brinjal to market, there will be no profits for compensation.  The intention of this case seems to be to bring Bt Brinjal to the commercial market and then compensate some unnamed party.

Biopiracy seeks compensation through profit sharing.  What does a little money as compensation mean compared to the result of a ruined staple crop and serious health issues?

This case appears to be a way to diffuse public outrage.

India is powerful.  Historically, India knows how to organize the masses to oppose tyranny.  India successfully stopped the commercialization of Bt Brinjal last year when the Minister of Environment banned Bt Brinjal.  India must rise up again.  It appears that the Minister of Environment and your Prime Minister have the power to stop Bt Brinjal.

FALSE BIOPIRACY LAWSUIT

According to this legal evaluation of the case, India vs Monsanto, there is no standing for this case in a Court of Law.

The reason for this is because Bt Brinjal was developed by a collaboration between Mahyco, an Indian company that is 26% owned by Monsanto, and other partners as a RESEARCH project.  Only cases concerning COMMERCIALIZATION may be heard in a Court of Law.  Obviously, Mahyco/Monsanto intended to commercialize Bt Brinjal as they tried to bring it to market, but the collaboration agreement states that Bt Brinjal was developed for research purposes.  In other words, the collaboration contract was misleading in order to keep this out of court.

The UN allied Environment Support Group alleges that Mahyco/Monsanto & partners failed to get research clearance for the use of native Indian brinjal from the National, State and Local Biodiversity Authorities.  These allegations are weak because:

1.  There was implied approval of the Mahyco/Monsanto collaboration project by the national government, so it may be argued that national approval was granted.

2.  Because the Mahyco/Monsanto project was stated to be a research project focusing on technology transfer instead of commercial goals, approval by the State may be waived and it will be kept out of court.

3.  The National Biodiversity and State Biodiversity Authorities should have consulted with the Local Biodiversity Boards, so Mahyco/Monsanto are off the hook for this charge.

THE UNITED NATIONS TRAP

The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), an agency of your national government, is bringing the legal action to determine whether Biological Diversity Act, a national Indian law, was violated by the national and state governments.  This amounts to the government investigating itself.

India's NBA and the Biological Diversity Act were created after India signed the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, which is a treaty designed to kill national independence, and to steal land and resources.  The treaty is part of the United Nation's Agenda 21 Sustainable Development global plot to replace national Indian law with the UN's international laws.

In order to stop Monsanto, you must understand the big picture and the UN is at the top.  The UN unfairly manipulates global trade markets, including food, through the UN World Trade Organization using treaties.  The intent of the UN is to control the world's food supply.

The UN uses financial aid to countries to buy off politicians.  The people rarely receive any benefits from the financial aid.  The United States is the largest financier of the UN.  The UN aims to rule the globe as the seat of One World Government.

Beware of all parties and individuals who have ties to the UN- this includes the Environment Support Group.

Most of the information presented in this video comes out of an 1100 page book, the UN Global Biodiversity Assessment report that is the cornerstone of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity treaty that India is following.  Please note that this book advocates depopulating the world by 85%.

Monsanto Profiteering Condemned by President of the U.N. General Assembly
UN, via African Press Organization, September 26, 2008
Straight to the Source

NOTE: Some very powerful points here from the President of the General Assembly of the United Nations, made at the opening of the High-level Event on the Millennium Development Goals at the U.N. in New York.

Remember that Monsanto has been at the very heart of the biofuels lobby.

EXTRACTS:

9. It is clear that the world food crisis is increasing social tensions and bringing about a significant rise in extreme poverty...

11. The World Bank has concluded that 75 per cent of the increase in food prices stems from the production of biofuels and factors related to rapidly growing demand for biofuels.

14. The essential purpose of food, which is to nourish people , has been subordinated to the economic aims of a handful of multinational corporations that monopolize all aspects of food production, from seeds to major distribution chains, and they have been the prime beneficiaries of the world crisis. A look at the figures for 2007, when the world food crisis began, shows that corporations such as Monsanto and Cargill, which control the cereals market, saw their profits increase by 45 and 60 per cent, respectively...

------
Opening remarks by H. E. M. Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann
President of the General Assembly at the High-level Event on the Millennium Development Goals 25 September 2008, United Nations, New York

United Nations, via African Press Organization

NEW YORK, USA, September 26, 2008/African Press Organization (APO)/ -
1. I would like to extend a warm welcome to this high-level event which the Secretary-General and I have convened. This event represents a very important opportunity for us to focus our collective efforts, in a spirit of unity and fraternal solidarity, on addressing one of the biggest and most crucial challenges of our time: the eradication of poverty and hunger.

2. In 1995, meeting in Copenhage n at the World Summit for Social Development, Heads of State and Government from all over the world solemnly undertook to end poverty and hunger in the world. They stated very clearly that for the first time in human history this goal had become possible, thanks to the resources, knowledge and technology available in the modern age. The Copenhage n commitments also viewed poverty eradication as a political necessity as well as an ethical and moral imperative, since a global system based upon enormous inequalities was unsustainable.

3. In September 2000, the the n 189 States Members of the United Nations , meeting in the United Nations General Assembly, adopted the Millennium Declaration, in which they pledged to "free our fellow men, women and children from the abject and dehumanizing conditions of extreme poverty " by 2015. To that end, the eight Millennium Development Goals were subsequently formulated.

4. The Millennium Declaration calls for a coordinated, time bound strategy that tackles many problems simultaneously on various fronts. Among other commitments, we agreed to halve, by 2015, the proportion of people living in extreme poverty; but also to solve the problems of hunger, malnutrition and disease, promote gender equality and empower women, and guarantee basic education for all. The Declaration also
proposes that wealthier countries should provide direct support to developing countries in the form of aid, trade, debt relief and investment.

5. A significant increase in international assistance for the world's poorest countries is essential for global development. While all donor countries undertook in Monterrey to allocate 0.7 per cent of their gross domestic product to development cooperation, very few have lived up to this commitment. For every dollar that the developed countries spend on international assistance, they invest $10 in military budgets.

6. It is calculated that the amount spent so far on the Iraq war could have pa id for a full course of primary schooling for all of the world's children and youth who are not in school. The price of a single missile is enough to build about 100 schools in any country in Africa, Asia or Latin America.

7. Furthermore, unfair trade practicesalso delay development, as poor countries are shut out of markets and deprived of trade opportunities. The high tariffs that rich countries impose on poor countries' products amount to a "perverse tax" that deprives developing countries of funds for health care and education.

8. Thus far, the progress made towards the Millennium Development Goals has, with few exceptions, been limited. Many countries have fallen behind and are unlikely to achieve the Goals by the target date. It is therefore worthwhile for us to learn from those that have made significant progress and to help each other so that all of us can move forward.

9. It is clear that the world food crisis is increasing social tensions and bringing about a significant rise in extreme poverty. World hunger has its roots in the inequitable distribution of purchasing power both between and within countries. Thus, our efforts should focus primarily on reducing inequities in our global system of food production. My brothers and sisters,

10. We have the technical and productive capacity to do this. It is incumbent on this Assembly to garner the strong sense of solidarity that will awaken the necessary political will to turn this crisis into an opportunity to transform a world system that denies the poor a right as basic as the right to food.

11. The World Bank has concluded that 75 per cent of the increase in food prices stems from the production of biofuels and factors rela ted to rapidly growing demand for biofuels.

12. The developed countries' lavish agricultural subsidies have weakened agriculture in developing countries. At the same time, only a fraction of international aid is earmarked for improving agricultural productivity. Aid for agriculture has shrunk from 17 per cent of total development assistance, the high point reached in 1996, to 3 per cent today. Now some international donors are demanding an end to fertilizer subsidies. Faced with today's world food crisis we must speak out on behalf of our brothers and sisters and say "This is not right". It is not just to keep in place agricultural and energy policies that give rise to these kinds of distortions. Now is the time to help the poorest countries to boost their food prod agricultural products at the prices imposed on them and have undermined the ir ability to compete by heavily subsidizing the production and export of these products. Together these factors have shaped a food production system that puts private economic interests ahead of people's basic dietary needs.

13. Food shortages are a consequence of these misguided policies, which have forced poor countries to import

14. The essential purpose of food, which is to nourish people , has been subordinated to the economic aims of a handful of multinational corporations that monopolize all aspects of food production, from seeds to major distribution chains, and they have been the prime beneficiaries of the world crisis. A look at the figures for 2007, when the world food crisis began, shows that corporations such as Monsanto and Cargill, which control the cereals market, saw their profits increase by 45 and 60 per cent, respectively; the leading chemical fertilizer companies such as Mosaic Corporation, a subsidiary of Cargill, doubled their profits in a single year.

15. At the same time , in response to the financial crisis, major hedge funds have shifted millions of dollars into agricultural products. These funds control 60 per cent of the supply of wheat and other basic grains. Most of these crops are purchased as "futures". In other words, speculators have been increasingly active in food-related financial markets.

Friends,

16. Eight years after we adopted the Millennium Declaration, global inequality remains exactly the same or has even deteriorated since 2000, and the planet is at serious risk of not meeting the basic needs of the poorest of the poor. If current trends continue, it will be difficult even to prevent a further widening of the gap between the MDG targets and the results achieved; between the have's and the have not's of our world.

17. Today, 3 billion 140 million people live on less than $2.50 a day. Of these, about 44 per cent survive on less than $1.25 a day, according to a new World Bank report issued on 2 September 2008. Every day, more than 30,000 people die of malnutrition, avoidable diseases and hunger. Some 85 per cent of them are children under the age of 5.

18. The top 10 per cent of the world's people possess 84 per cent of the world's wealth, while the rest are left with the remaining 16 per cent. Yet we have the technical and productive capacity to adequately feed the whole planet. It is a matter of reorienting our priorities. We must now muster the resolve to feed the world's hungry.

19. Neoliberal economic restructuring worldwide has affected the supply and access to three of life's basic necessities: food, water and fuel. In recent years, the prices of these three variables have risen at the global level, with devastating economic and social consequences. Today these three basic necessities are controlled by a small group of global corporations and financial institutions.

20. All of these processes put at risk are ability to reach our development targets related to health. The poor performance in reducing maternal mortality is a telling sign of the magnitude of the problem. The current rate of more than 500,000 pregnancy- and childbirth-related maternal deaths each year constitutes a disgrace for humanity. The Secretary-General and I will therefore join forces to strengthen global health through increased support for initiatives in this area.

21. Today the developed countries are feeling the effects of an acute credit crisis. However, the failures or, more accurately, the lack of a viable international economic system has plunged the developed countries of the West, and the world economy as a whole, into a severe crisis.

22. We must all ensure that the current crisis, which was caused in large part by a preference for protectionist policies or special interests at the expense of the common good, is not used as a pretext for failing to honour the commitments undertaken.

23. If we are to achieve the Millennium Goals, which remain modest, we must demonstrate the resolve and take the necessary steps to incorporate fully into this international endeavor our indigenous brothers and sisters as a yardstick for monitoring progress on the Millennium Goals. Their effective inclusion will require a redefinition of development goals to reflect the particular worldviews, perspectives and concepts of development of indigenous peoples. Each and all of us together have much to learn from our indigenous brothers and sisters about respect for and the care of our Mother Earth, water and nature, which are the source and the sustenance of life for all species.

Dear brothers and sisters,

24. This snapshot of the world that I have presented today has a direct impact on the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. Only through deep reflection and clear, courageous political decisions will we be able to address the structural causes and achieve the Goals that we agreed upon in 2000. I invite you in the dialogues at each of the round tables today to share successful experiences so that all of us will be able to generate effective, sustainable changes that benefit the poorest of the poor.

25. There can be no denying of the fact that these global upheavals have increased the burden of the most vulnerable among us , those brothers and sisters who already bear the yoke of extreme poverty, the uncertainty and uprootedness caused by climate change, and who are the victims of the direct and collateral damage inflicted by wars of aggression or greed.

26. May it be most of all for the benefit of these brothers and sisters that we dedicate our best efforts today.

Thank you.

And you are ignorant on these matters but try to use them to your advantage...like you don't pirate stuff today!!! Get real and get smart....you are embarassing yourself. What do you do for a living that you don't know why these IP postions exist and the true value of them?

To have control of others through financial domination as taught by God?

Too bad God's intellectual property has been stolen 50 quadrillion times.

It starts in school, they teach you to not use each others ideas and answers to help each other, but
to dominate them in competition.

This is inherently wrong.

All of our resources are spent protecting artificial wealth that hold no actual value.

This is why the country is bankrupt.

No patents and copyrights for millions of years, and suddenly the entire history of the world was a mistake
that favored free enterprise and allowed people to share ideas and work together.

The industrial revolution was led by the US and the UK because of parts standardization, not by proprietary
differences. Patents and copyrights ended the industrial revolution.

It's basic common sense that you seem to not possess.

10 people sharing ideas and working together versus 10 people competing with each other with one tenth
the knowledge and ideas each, could never achieve what the 10 working together could.

You espouse financial domination of others based on government favoritism.

Is that what you fought for? Freedom and free enterprise be damned. Gotta spend billions protecting the
chosen few that the government favors.

You seek a world of denial and exclusion and will support every resource to get.

Conservative Christian values? Of course not. These are the ideas of capitalism and corporate servitude.

Hello children, welcome to kindergarten. Today's lesson, sharing is piracy. You must all learn to submit to the
financial control of others.

Greed has blinded you Joe.

After establishing an IP position the last two phases of our IP Lifecycle are all about leveraging it for maximum return.

An effective IP program should allow an organization to protect key markets and products by utilizing patent assets to address competitive threats and by minimizing the potential of third party patent assertion.  In defending a business, speed of action is essential.  This requires the organization to be prepared for a variety of situations and have the resources in place to respond or to proactively avoid damaging situations.  An ounce of preparation is worth two of cure.

UBM TechInsights supports clients in preparing their defenses and to execute on specific actions.  UBM TechInsights structures and assesses clients’ patent portfolios so that key patents can be easily identified to provide leverage in a particular matter.  The extensive library of reverse engineering at the disposal of UBM TechInsights is an invaluable resource for prior art material.

Patent Assertion

UBM TechInsights provides technical support and intelligence for clients asserting their patent rights to defend a product or to counter a third party assertion by identifying patents for leverage, mapping the patents to specific products, and identifying evidence of use through techniques such as reverse engineering, functional testing, and software analysis.  UBM TechInsights has a blend of technical, IP, and business professionals supported by an unrivalled library of reverse engineering analysis. This mix of skills and resources can vastly improve your position in licensing negotiations or patent litigation.

Prior Art Assessment

To invalidate third party patents or strengthen your own applications, UBM TechInsights engineers perform an investigation of the art related to a patent or invention starting with publically available literature and patent databases enhanced by our proprietary inventory of over 26,000 devices, 6,000 reports and technical literature (e.g. data books, conference publications) dating back to the mid-1970’s.

More specifically: Devices from UBM TechInsights’ inventory include ICs ranging from DRAM and Flash memory to Analog (ex. ADCs/DACs, Power MOSFETs, RF) to microprocessors and ASICs, as well as consumer products including cell phones, Set-top boxes, DVD recorders and TV’s.  Intact samples are available for much of our inventory, which allow custom reverse engineering support for related art analysis
UBM TechInsights’ technical library includes over 6,000 reverse engineering open market reports; data books and conference publications (e.g. IEEE, ISSCC, etc.) dating back to the 1970’s; and database access to numerous external channels. In addition, UBM TechInsights has customized search tools that enable more efficient access to pertinent internal and external database information.

Non-Infringement Analysis

Typically companies will use their own technical staff as part of the analysis of third party patents asserted against their products. However, this isn’t always possible if the engineers are needed to hit a design window, if those with relevant knowledge have left the company, or if an independent assessment is needed. UBM TechInsights has a large team of engineering talent trained to understand patents and perform extensive work comparing the details of a particular product to patent claims.

I'd say this is stifling

I'm not promoting 'stealing' I'm promoting the fact that we should understand that the 'virtual values' placed upon our
homes/interest rates/ticket prices/food prices ARE BEYOND SUPPLY AND DEMAND.....

it's not longer straightforward and is obfuscated by laws that make value of things and uphold that value even when
supply/demand is non-existent....it becomes a 'they told me so, so that's why' scenario.....which then leads to
'they need to do something'....

because in the end the patent laws keep the so called 1%ers exactly where they are regardless of the 'fair share'
conversation because the elected/lawyers/legislators will always be there doling out 'virtual value'....

what makes one persons idea their own?
there's nothing new under the sun?

if all men are created equal under the law then no one owns ideas and the ability to make laws to keep their idea
with more value than the next....

if we are 'robbing peter to pay paul' or playing robinhood and complaining about the 1%ers where do we think the
root of the matter is???? because at ANY GIVEN TIME the system may change that value and we wouldn't even
know it......until the ripple hits our shores/homes/jobs etc.....

Hallelujah, someone who understands logic and favoritism, and the laws that created the unfairnesses.

WOW, quite a rambling...so the only thing I got fro mit is that my 2 patents make me a 1%er and I have no right to them becuase they were my ideas and no one else came up with those ideas, but becuase I did, they should have the right to them too....interesting convoluted BS....can't believe the gibberish I'm reading!

Exactly the response I was hoping for.

Absolutely you have a right to use any idea that you come up with.

But all things being equal under the law, shouldn't everyone have the same rights as you?

Why do you wish them to be denied equality under the law.

If you invent a widget and sell it for $200 and I can produce them for ten cents, why should the
government protect your price gouging?

This is the heart of the issue. You want a right of yours to be denied to all others under penalty
of the law.

There is no such provision for this type of action in the Constitution.

Please stop trashing the concept of equal treatment.

Everyone should be guaranteed the same opportunities. The true value of your widget lies on your
ability to produce it as long as it stays in demand and a cheaper version hasn't shown up.

Government assistance in preventing competition allows you to price gouge the world.

Do you really need government assistance for your ideas to hold any value?

If you do, the idea held no value originally. The law contains the government issued artificial value.

You then become an extension of the arm of the government mafia.

SORRY, gotta go take a dozen aspirin for my UN-FRIGGIN-BELIEVABLE NONSENSICAL GIBBERISH HEADACHE!

The next generations do not believe in your governmental thuggery.

Copyrights and patents will not stand.

They have divided the world, furthering the distance between the haves and the have nots. All with governmental
coercion, enforcement and favoritism.

Welfare!

A strong IP position enables the patent strategy, allowing the organization to achieve its desired outcomes.
Establishing ... the core requirement for success in leveraging and monetizing IP.

Patent laws were never intended to use as leverage to gouge the world.

Monsanto is expert at using the patent and copyright laws to dominate the vulnerable and are determined
to export their financial domination worldwide to enslave the developing nations.

Monsanto will eventually own the patents to all food. Then the patent laws will be abolished.

Genetically modified death. Protected by patents and copyrights.

Monsanto will go down in history as the corporation that killed patents and copyrights, along with the deaths
caused by them, and the corporate take over of all farms on Earth.

time to leave the cities to the filth they have harbored, get some clean soil and get to the INDEPENDENT toil of feeding oneself...

what's harder farming or having a job at a company that the only way you get to keep it is with a union....

who wants to be the puck anymore?

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

sounds like the serpent

A very simple idea like patents taken to the ultimate extreme, having world wide possibilities, perhaps even
the end of life on Earth. With government approval and enforcement.
