Gov’t shouldn’t push contraceptives on teens

Contraceptives are offered free through the national health system in England, and they have the highest teen pregnancy rate in Europe.
Mounting evidence in several developed countries points to unplanned pregnancies increasing with higher access to contraceptives. On the other hand, policies that decrease access to contraception, and hence sexual activity, are likely to lower pregnancy rates in the long run.
The Department of Health and Human Services hopes to provide free contraceptives to the poor, but the poor have the highest contraceptive failure rates. For example, according to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, poor women 20 and under who use the pill have a 48.4 percent chance of getting pregnant in one year. The same girl using a condom has a 71.7 percent chance.
A study in the Journal of Adolescent Health showed that with the use of hormonal contraceptives, condom use drops.
We are in the midst of a sexually transmitted disease epidemic, where one in four girls has a sexually transmitted disease or infection. It is well established that the pill increases a woman’s chance of getting an STI [sexually transmitted infection].
In 2005 the World Health Organization classified the combined estrogen-progestin birth control pill as the highest class of carcinogen. A congressional report released in July stated that abstinence programs are the “superior” approach to teen sex ed.
The government should stay out of the contraceptive business.

England has the highest teen pregnancy rate in Europe and offer free contraception.
England's rate is 25 per thousand.
The USA in the past hasn't offered free contraceptives...
USA's rate is higher than England at 37.9
Denmark and Sweden both offer free contraceptives and are among the lowest teen pregnancy in Europe
Denmark at 5.5
Sweden at 5.9

So what your saying Boxy is that we don't need to sink (ofc will amount to) billions of $$$ into a non existant problem.

My response was to the LTE.

Teaching 'abstinence' is the least effective approach to Teen Pregnancy.

That is what Planned parenthood is for.....ya know....the arm of the government?

The truth of the matter is that  PP is the largest child killing enterprise in America.
It is clearly a 'murder for profit racket'....one that the government supports with our 'forced' tax dollars.

Thomas Jefferson.....'to force a man to give money for what he disbelieves and hates is wicked and tyrannical.'

To excuse PPs involvement in the murder of countless babies because it claims that it has some benefits, like their STD education........................... is like excusing Hitler’s genocides because he established Germany’s national highway system.

But I must admit that this mind thought rests with the minority of americans. That was obvious in this last election.

President George HW Bush who was a great supporter of Planned Parenthood, and his father Prescott
Bush who was a founder of Planned Parenthood, might disagree with you.
So might Republicans Barry Goldwater, Richard Nixon and many more.

I can't wait for the actual "REPUBLICANS" to take back their party from the TeaBaggers and NeoCons.

I agree Box.  They seemed to be snuffed out by the Baggers and Cons.  You people need to get a grip.  The Baggers and the cons have "raped" the republican party...although I suspect it was a legitimate rape.

Historic everything because your man Bush left a mess.  Who could clean that up in four years when it took him eight to make a mess of everything Bill Clinton left.

Romney lost by less than 3 million votes and Obama received 9 million less votes than 4 years ago.  If anything, people moved away from supporting both big government parties.  Its been an over exaggeration by both parties.

$2.6 billion was spent on this years election, that's $200 million MORE than 2008, and 14 million less  votes were cast. What's that tell ya?
