Al Roney, drive-time host on Talk1300 announced on Facebook that he was “fired” from his the station after his last show on Friday. This isn’t the first time Roney’s been in this situation but this time he is one station shorter on his options.

I’m sure that this situation will get the same reaction from his supporters as his 2010 “firing” from local radio station WGY. I listened to his last show and I’m thinking this may be more of an economic situation than a personality situation but you never know. Roney always marched to a different drummer and I loved him for that….even though I didn’t always agree with him.

On Roney’s Facebook page, one of the commenters wrote that she had heard that Kelly Stevens, host of Talk1300 Saturday night Trivia Show and former candidate for Al Roney’s position, would also be released after her evening show. If this is true it would surely indicated an economic issue with the station…and, believe me, I have no doubt that there is a challenge in that area.

Al Roney was always good to me, he acknowledged, unlike some other media outlets, that he got some leads and research from me...heck, I even had an open invitation on his show! I wish him well and hope he is back on the air soon
