For 11 days of a 10 year war, Nixon bombed the North's ports (Haiphong & Hanoi) and it's staging areas in the north. Interestingly in the city of Hanoi, the most densely populated area in the north, 1700 flights bombing concentrated areas of enemy supplies and production dropped 20,000 tons of bombs and killed (according to your video) 1318 civilians. I think that is amazing that a concentration of 20,000 tons of bombs, managed to hit precise targets so well that the civilians killed were less than 1320.
Gee...Only 1320 civilians killed. That is 10 times more than the Oklahoma City bombing.
McVeigh bombed a government building in retaliation for what he thought was unjust government violence against American people. And the U.S. government supposedly bombed Vietnam to protect the South Vietnamese people from the communist government committing unjust government violence against the Vietnamese people. Both were acts of violence against governments they disagreed with, and both were attacks against governments that committed acts of violence against their own people. One is considered a "terrorist" the other a "foreign policy mistake".
It's amazing how so many people have been brainwashed to legitimize one form of terrorism committed by the state against a foreign state, and condemn the other against the state. It's gotta be all in the uniform...I hear women looooooove a man in uniform.
"Illegal" was my term. Although the military wanted from the start to bomb the north's supply ports of Hanoi and Haiphong, the Johnson, and (for all but a few weeks) Nixon White house refused to allow it.

I keep reading this, and I know it's your values, so maybe you can explain it to me...
McVeigh bombed a government building ("an act of violence against the American People") BECAUSE... "of what he thought was unjust government violence against American people."

One question... You DO understand that in wars the opposing troops have as their objective to kill the other's troops? You do understand it don't you??? I mean you seem to understand and condone a terrorists killing of of 168 Americans, including 19 children under the age of 6... not an act of 'war' but an act of 'terrorism' AGAINST YOUR OWN CIVILIAN COUNTRYMEN.

if we didnt take out the trees we couldnt see the forest. Just march... God is always on our side. the way is always forward FORWARD they say..... Why do ya think we have chaplins in the army. O LORd we pray as we go to slaughter today In the name of all that is good we commit these crimes to your glory. Bless us now as we enter battle and help us to never question what our rightous leaders say. Help us to deny the humanity you gave us and allow us to be swift and our aim sure. Guide the bullets from our guns to only hit our enemies. very messy stufff......
Thats why we got drones. And why we have trained a whole generation of xbox heroes to man the war toys of tommorrow today.
We didnt come this far to get this far. random 12 year old

Same justification military generals give. When the military bombs a foreign governments infrastructure, they always find a way to justify the "collateral damage". So if McVeigh was a general in the US military, he would get away with killing innocent people in a mission to protect innocent people when bombing government infrastructure.
Hitler's troops were welcomed too, when they rolled up in tanks. Girls on the beach are not the legal government of a country. (The "legal government of South Vietnam begged the USA to send combat troops to help them fight back the North Vietnamese.) (Jeeezzzze L4Life... read a history book. There was NO US INVASION OF VIETNAM (except in your mind) They (you) invaded a nation. One more time... Normandy was an invasion... Vietnam was planes landing at the airports, and ships landing at the ports... the Govt of South Vietnam begged the USA to send troops. Really, read a history book and get back to me about YOUR US INVASION of Vietnam. ) I ask again, for what?
What good came from killing a million Viet Namese? None. Did you idiots save the world? (If you consider "you idiots" to be the US military... they had no choice in the matter. Did YOUR IDIOTS in Washington DC save the world???) Does the term utter failure and feat mean anything to you at all. (I assume you meant to say "defeat"... The US failures in Vietnam were political, not military.) The greatest military defeat of all time for the US military.
Utter failure.
1 million dead from the invasion. (LMAO @ Your lack of knowledge posting about a fictitious invasion... ) Nothing was learned.
History is still repeating itself again and again.
Shouldn't the US military be getting embarrassed at losing invasion after invasion?
I suppose that killing people in exchange for a paycheck will always exist.
Myself, I'm embarrassed for being remotely affiliated with the US actions. (How were you affiliated with US actions???)

"Same justification military generals give." Again... you show your ignorance of the issues you seem to think you are an expert on in your posts.
Military targets are proposed by the 'generals'... The Politicians then give the military their approval, not the other way around.
What targets were hit in Vietnam by aircraft were sanctioned by US Politicians not the Generals.
Had the Generals been in charge, the ports in the north would have been destroyed in 1964 and 1965. Dams in the North would have been destroyed in 1966. All bridges in the North would have been destroyed stopping supplies to the south.
That war and the Iraq war would have looked much different if the Generals were in charge instead of the politicians.
The above video stated that the Christmas Bombing of the ports was in response to a breakdown of Peace Talks... a political decision, not a military one.

None the less, those deaths are justifiable when government does it.

~ My govt sent troops to Iraq... so I'll blow up a school bus tomorrow... because I'm pissed. ~ Obama didn't shut down Gitmo like he promised to do, so I'll poison the water supply of a city. ~ My taxes are too high,(even though they are lower now than in 40 year) and I am oppressed by my govt taxing me... so I'll set off a bomb at a sporting event... AND YOU SAY UNDERSTAND THIS TERRORIST BEHAVIOR??? I have to admit, I don't. My actions will hurt innocent people and do nothing to solve the reason for my complaints.
"My kitchen sink is leaking... so I'll blow up my garage" must make sense to you?

We're back to "When Government Does It"... Government is the elected body of our system... by extension, the American people decide these decisions when they elect our politicians.
The Military is the servant of the politicians. The Military is NOT the Govt. the politicians are... and by extension the People who elect the politicians are the govt.
As a voter... You are at war with yourself!

You left out the largest prison population in the world. That would be a more accurate example of an oppressive government.
