And it is amazing. Really night and day from what I had to deal with over there. Being a father of two young girls (2 and 4) it was great to move out of the black hole before they went to school. I went from never looking at my neighbors there and avoiding them at all costs to having my new ones over for backyard barbecues all summer. The quality of people only a mile or two up the road was astounding to the point where I think I am in the Twilight Zone. Let's just hope that filth doesn't migrate here, as I would love to enjoy this feeling of serenity for a little while.

Good advice. Not too much of a chitter chatter guy so I don't know many people in the area. Just basically my neighbor is all. Actually live in a 'country setting' as was described by my landlord over on the helderberg ave area. No riff raff here - yet. Will keep that in mind though and watch what I say to whom.

ROTTENdam is at the tipping point......it's 'a nice place to live' tipping over to 'just like the city'.

Altamont Ave is beginning to be occupied by the city folk. Not many folks venture out to rotterdam square, hannaford plaza or price chopper at night anymore.

It's not what it use to be....but hasn't turned into the 'city'.........YET!!

He'll be sure to comment.   He'll post with pom poms in hand.

Wait, maybe not, he avoids posting when I post because I tell the truth and provide evidence, we're still waiting for him, after two years, to provide evidence of the FBI thing that says crime in Schenectady is going down, and we are still waiting after two years for him to provide the numbers that support his statements that the county taxes are lower than 50 years ago (which of course was only a copy and paste job of savage political propaganda).

Your actually in one of the best parts of town. You have Rotterdam neighborhoods on both sides blocking your neighborhood from Schenectady. The Schenectady trash can only typically walk a few blocks from the bus stop into Rotterdam to commit their crimes. Anyways, welcome to the neighborhood and the message board.

heartburnkid glad you got out : )  My sister just moved into her home in rotterdam and is VERY happy. She also just
went to an IEP meeting for my niece and said it was totally different then sch'dy. She said she actually walked out of
the meeting smiling, unlike in sch'dy where she would be crying, confused and upset.

I wish you the best : )

I gotta get out of this place.

Rotterdam - like any town - has its good points and its bad points.  Life if pretty much how you choose to look at it and make it.  Overall, I am optimistic about Rotterdam and Schenectady County.  Sure, there are things that I think need improvement but except for the fact that it is not in Scotland or Texas (the only two places I'd rather be living in) it is a very good place to live.

Welcome to Rotterdam!!!!!

Sue paints a horrible picture!   But seriously, haven't seen anything like that just yet. I live in a pretty sweet spot. Looking for good work though now. Was at 'the big cable
company' here but they decided it was in their best interest to give our jobs to the Philippines. Same job we did, but they can save on taxes and pay them a heckuva lot less. I love America. /sigh.
