I had hoped to do some ocean (Gulf of Mexico) fishing this summer with my brother. With my brother's passing this past April, I just couldn't get excited about taking the trip this year. Hopefully, 2013 will be a better year and I'll make the trip.
What kind of fish do you get in the Keys?
I'm sorry to hear about your brother, were you close? We get some great snapper down there especially under the bridges ( great for winter fishing), some bonefish (great for sporting) if we go out in the boat. At my age, we don't get out to "open water" too often, but there's some nice Marlin that friends have come back with. I use jig-and-bait combos when fishing from the bridges - it's the most effective. Next time you're looking for a get away, come down to the keys, we'll show you some fine fishing year round - and lots to do. Yes, the sidewalks roll up in the winter after the tourists have gone, but that makes everything else SO much more enjoyable! |
