As many of you know, my home for the winter months is down in the Florida Keys (Marathon to be specific), so I will soon depart from your fair company, leave you to your discussions without an old man interrupting and without raising this old mans blood pressure. Be good to one another. As Major Sidney Freedman once said - " Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice - pull down your pants and slide on the ice. " What do we do in the keys? Here's what some of my buddies are up to this year - the running of the bulls in Key West. This is the "younger" crowd, normally I'd sit on the sidelines and watch - I can't run that fast, and well, a bull has sharp horns. |

Rusty, is the running of the bulls part of the Hemingway festivities? Have you ever attended Fantasy Fest in Key West? I once visited Key West and especially enjoyed the Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square Dock each evening. Delightful. |

I'm impressed young Loki - yes, indeed, it's part of the Hemingway festival. There's even an award for the person that looks most like him, I came in second one year. LOL, go figure - only 3 entries I have not attended Fantasy Fest, but hope to this year. It's October 19-28, so I should be back there in time. My son, his family and some friends are coming down, so it should be a great time. Key West is a beautiful town, I live just outside, in a smaller Key, Marathon Key, which is less commercial, lower taxes and everyone knows me as the old man in the keys. Next time you're coming down, let me know - I'd be happy to show you around my world, maybe even do a little fishing! |

dont blow your head off with a shotgun in any event |
| "While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat." |

The only thing as entertaining in Florida is fishing - something I plan on doing a LOT of when I get there (this weekend I hope). This blog is merely entertainment while I'm here. I don't have internet access at my home there, hell I don't even have cable TV. Hell, I only use my cell phone when I'm there, why pay for a home phone to ring when I'm out drowning bait? |

I've decided, based on the actions of a few adolescent, immature bullies on this blog, to postpone my departure. I shall enjoy the fall here in NY, and perhaps return to warmer climates later this year or early next year. Marathon will have to wait. So, what's exciting to do here these days in the fall? I'd like to partake of as much as I can. If I'm going to be stuck here, I may as well enjoy life! Any events at the schools? Plays or musicals? I went apple picking this past weekend and have enough apples, but now I guess I need some pumpkins to get into the spirit to give away candy at halloween. Are there a lot of kids going door to door lately? Where's the bargain candy? I'd also like to sample some more local brews while I'm here. I was out with the kid last week and found a new concept - "growlers" - which are bottled beers that they draw from tap, cap and send you on your way. I spent a LOT of $ at an A+ Mini Mart on Washington Ave - I think I got 2 of every one they offered, but it's never enough. Any ideas? |
