You simply cannot respect anyone but yourself...why couldn't you just leave this a a respect thread instead of having to interject your political rhetoric. Remembering those that died in 9/11 should be just that and NOTHING ELSE!
so we have national/state memorials for WACO? how about when kids die in fires? how about when adults die in fires? how about shootings? how about mass suicides? how about murder spree? SH!T happens every day ALL OVER the country..... are we going to have a national day of silence for the Dark Knight movie shootings? I get it about the first responders and the military folks.....they chose it...good for them....I completely respect them for what they chose to do.... the civilians that died in 9/11 are not more equal than anyone else....but the POLITICIANS will use it for generations to come..... just watch and listen.... p.s. don't forget to donate peanut butter and jelly.... p.s.s they F'D up the economy and now want us to pay homage via food pantries because of it..... we call that leadership? |

Live and learn...I gave you more credit than I should have. If you do not understand the difference and significance of how the entire world changed as a result of this act of terrorism, and act of war declared on the U.S. and all free nations, then it would be a waste of time to try and explain. And just for clarification, why do do you think the other acts of violence are also not respected and honored on their anniversaries....I know for a fact that several are, becuase I participate in those memorials....and WACO is not one of them!!!! |

I wasn't asking for credit....I was expressing how a tragedy such as 9/11 changed the world because we allowed it to... The language changed, the soul of America changed to such a degree that a little more of the individual was swallowed up by the ant hill.... I know other anniversaries of other tragedies are remembered in local ways....

By SUSANNA KIM (@skimm) Sept. 12, 2011 Ten years after the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, deceased victims' families and the injured have been compensated over $7 billion. Of 2,977 victims who lost their lives as a result of the attack, only one survivor's family has refrained from settling its claims with the airline and a security company they say were negligent.
The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund of 2001, created by Congress, distributed $7 billion to survivors and victims' families. There have been 2,983 families of those who died and received an average of just over $2 million tax-free per claim, according to Kenneth Feinberg, former pro bono administrator of the fund.
In addition, 2,300 physically injured 9/11 victims or those who suffered from respiratory problems cleaning up the World Trade Center were each awarded $400,000 tax-free, on average, Feinberg said.
Feinberg started distributing compensation 11 days after the program was established and began cutting checks in April 2002, until the fund expired by statute in June 2004.
Kathy Sylvester Mark Bavis was aboard United Airlines flight... View Full Size 'God Bless America' Sung at Stock Exchange Watch Video 10 Years Later: 'GMA' Remembers 9/11 Watch Video 9/11 'Red Dress' Girl on Decade Without Hero Mom Watch Video Feinberg said 94 families who lost a loved one on September 11 opted not to participate in the fund and decided voluntarily to litigate in Manhattan. And 93 of those 94 settled over the past five years. Only the Bavis family is going to trial.
The Bavis family of Massachusetts will resume their lawsuit in New York City against United Airlines and security company Huntleigh on September 19 in a hearing, with a trial date scheduled for November.
The family first filed the suit in September 2002. Mary Bavis, the named plaintiff, is the mother of Mark Bavis who was aboard United Airlines flight 175 from Boston when it struck the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
Other companies and cities that the Bavis initially sued have been dropped from the suit over time. The New York district court dismissed Massport, for example, which oversees Boston Logan airport, focusing on the checkpoint process, Migliori said.
The families that opted out of the fund and eventually settled may have received on average of under $5 million, using figures from the report of Sheila Birnbaum, the 9/11 mediator. The information, however, is confidential.
For most lawsuits that are not pro-bono, attorneys receive 33 to 50 percent of their client's reward, depending on state laws and client agreements, said Brian Fitzpatrick, professor of Law, Vanderbilt Law School.
The Bavis family has said it is not interested in money but wants justice.
"From the very beginning my family has wanted accountability and an airing of the facts to explain why this happened so easily and we have yet to get there," Mike Bavis, the victim's brother, told ABC News.
Don Migliori, an attorney representing the Bavis family, represented 56 of the families who opted not to participate in the fund. He said he represented his clients pro bono because the fund paid out a fraction of value of the claims. Migliori said the family is looking for information and just compensation.
"That doesn't mean just a lot of money. What they're looking for is compensation that reflects not only the loss but a statement of accountability for defendants," Migliori said. "[The Bavis family] have been able to ask specific questions and answers for the security failure at the four airports involved. They want some kind of accountability statement to acknowledge their failures."

DON'T POLITICIZE 9/11 - HAVE SOME DECENCY AND RESPECT! Unless you are Bill Clinton of course...shhhhhh.

CLINTON URGES FLORIDIANS TO HONOR 9/11 BY VOTING
MIAMI (AP) -- Appealing for patriotism, former President Bill Clinton on Tuesday urged Americans to honor those killed on 9/11 and in the wars that followed by being a "good citizen" and getting engaged in the election.
"The least we can do is show up and vote," said Clinton, opening two days of campaigning in Florida for President Barack Obama.
Clinton muted his direct criticism of Romney on a day when both parties put aside their most harshly negative rhetoric. The former president also opened his remarks with a moment of silence honoring those killed in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
But Clinton didn't hold back in drawing contrasts between Obama's proposals and those pushed by Republicans. In fine detail, he parsed the differences between the parties on health care, higher education and government spending

So there you have it! For all you folks that were appalled at my posts, you should be glad to hear that I will show up to the polls on election day in November and pull the lever to honor those victims of 9/11. I mean, after all, that is the LEAST I can do to pay my respects for those that died on 9/11 and those that died in the wars that followed is to vote for one of these fine politicians that send them to war to die. That Bill Clinton, he's a very persuasive guy. |

It appears that the 'new generation' of the military 'get it'. Obviously....since Ron Paul has gotten more support from the military than anyother candidate. Ron Paul and all of his supporters recognize the killing of millions of innocent all in the name of 'politics'.......and today's military folks apparently agree!
Vets were demonstrating in support of paul's anti-war stand........they weren't disrespecting those who lost their lives on 'issues to no where wars'.....they were DEFENDING THEM!!! DUH! |
