I agree, he hasn't even touched the 2nd Amendment issue. The concern is that those from the anti gun left use this to push him in that direction.
With Fast and Furious and the Federal Government arming drug cartels with assault rifles on the Obama resume, I don't think Obama has the moral authority to have a national debate about regulating guns. I won't be surprised if this tragedy is out of the MSM in a day or two. Buying, selling and trading guns is the last thing Obama wants to talk about.

Reagan didn't either.
That "fast and furious" neocon talking point is getting tired. Police, and military agencies have been giving things to bad people for the purpose of tracking it's movements, or conducting stings, for a couple of hundered years now.
I didn't see anyone complaining when the FBI caught that guy at the capitol with a bomb that they sold him.

Hell, they were heroes.
Maybe you haven't caught my drift yet. I believe the federal government as it has been directed over the past 70 years is adherently and systemically corrupt. It doesn't matter who the president is. I know that this is a favorite rhetorical tool of the left, to invoke Reagan's name to show moral equivocation with somebody on the left. That doesn't work on me, I don't revere Reagan as some God. He continued the U.S. imperialism and militarism, and he did it with deficit spending. One example is Reagan imperialism is the continuation of selling arms to Nicaraguan and Iranian Contras usurping the Congressional ban. That was Unconstitutional. So what do they do, they have a hearing and throw out the sacrificial lamb Oliver North to give the American people a name and face to blame so they could get back to the business of meddling in the politics of other nations.
Setting up political straw man argument doesn't make the federal government selling arms for the reason of influence the domestic politics of other nations right.
Presidents have been wiping their a** with the Constitution for some time now. You may take that fact to justify current and future president to wipe their a** with it also. I won't.
[quote=485] I always wanted to go hunting with a RPG. It would cut down on the misses and wounded animals (so very humane) and it would save time by killing the prey, gutting and skinning it all in one easy process. [quote] Another confused liberal who thinks the second amendment is about hunting
Really Henry... try to keep up. I assume that you didn't read to the end of my post... as I assume that you didn't leave off the last part of my post on purpose.
It read: My rights under the 2nd amendment guarantee my right to own and shoot a RPG! (and as an added bonus... I could defend myself against my government)

The hysteria that 's present on this board, is a money maker for a select group of Americans... Those with gun company stock... or NRA Lobbyists. The paranoia that the NRA is selling to a gullible Conservative base, is making some Americans very wealthy.

once we say we can't own them under the UN 'constitution', it becomes 'unlawful in-house'.....the soul of America is NOT to keep guns for fun but to be sovereign....
that seems to be the goal of the world wide 1%ers.....
fear of neighbors next door, down the road, or across an ocean is what this gun debate fuels......
shame shame shame shame

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Switzerland issues all citizens that become adults a fully automatic rifle. Their homeland security consists of the citizenry.
Switzerland has 68 gun related murders a year.
Chicago alone has over 500 and they have the strictest gun laws in the US.
The citizens are armed, preventing outside forces from entering and taking control.
The US spends trillions hiring paid gunmen to protect us.
That includes the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Homeland Security, Border Patrol Agents, The ATF, The CIA, The NSA, Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration, United States Marshals Service, Federal Air Marshal Service, United States Coast Guard, United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, United States Secret Service, Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Federal Protective Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries Office for Law Enforcement, Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigations Division, United States Treasury Police, Defense Criminal Investigative Service, Pentagon Force Protection Agency, United States Army Criminal Investigation Division, United States Army Military Police Corps, Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Air Force Security Forces, Department of the Air Force Police, Naval Criminal Investigative Service, Office of Naval Intelligence Police, Marine Corps Provost Marshal's Office, U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement and Investigations, Bureau of Land Management Office of Law Enforcement & Security, National Park Rangers, United States Park Police, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Office of Law Enforcement, Federal Reserve Police, Library of Congress Police, United States Probation Service, United States Supreme Court Police, Veterans Affairs Police and The National Guard, The Air National Guard, the list is endless.
Then on the state and local levels:
NYS Government departments
New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police New York State Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services New York State Division of Parole New York State Division of Probation and Correctional Alternatives New York State Police New York State DMV Division of Field Investigations
Other state agencies

Schenectady County Sheriff's Office Schenectady Police Department Scotia Police Rotterdam Police Glenville Police Niskayuna Police
Yet with trillions spent, one guy can terrorize any city, town, or village at any moment.
Does anyone actually feel safe and protected.
I would like to be protected from those who take my money by force to create this network of redundancy and waste.
We are the most militarized nation of law enforcement personnel in the world.
We have more people in prison per capita than anyone, by far.
We have overlapping agencies that are complete failures.
We spend more on law enforcement than most of the countries of the world spend on their entire budgets.
Then along comes Tim McViegh, the unibomber, Columbine, Virginia Tech, etc.
Law enforcement can't keep anyone safe except themselves.

As I heard Chris Rock ranting on TV yesterday saying" America is the only country on Earth that goes hunting on a full stomach."
sure,,,after we've handed over the responsibility to a few to feed the masses...no matter how enhanced the food supply is... don't get me wrong, I don't hunt to fill my freezer and yes, I hunt after having a stewarts coffee and filling my belly...

He meant that metaphorically. He wasn't referring to people hunting opossum.
Barack Obama's Gun Control Plan Focuses On 'Existing Law' Posted: 07/22/2012 9:05 pm Updated: 07/22/2012 9:14 pm
WASHINGTON -- The White House has so far declined to weigh in on possible legislative responses to the mass shooting in Aurora, Colo., this Friday.
But in a briefing with reporters who were travelling with President Barack Obama as he met with the victims and their families in Colorado on Sunday, Press Secretary Jay Carney signaled that the administration would tackle issues of gun violence within the confines of current legislation......................>>>>................>>>>.................http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/22/barack-obama-gun-control_n_1693650.html
