Imagine that!  Some Conservatives actually do have a working brain.  (but only a very few)

Former Republican congressman from South Carolina is calling on conservatives to
take measures to combat climate change instead of “retreating in denial.”

I refer you back to the article that started this thread from the guy who is the godfather of climate change and read it again, yes it says the climate is warming and changing but the facts don't necessarilly point to it being manmade.

Again... there is no SCIENTIFIC DEBATE on Climate Change... The only Debate is Political.

It's a great idea until you look at it a little deeper. "tax it and innovations will come" is easier said than done.
Alternative Energy has been around for over 20 years, and it still isn't even close to being ready for prime time.
Taxing energy won't hurt the poor because they don't have cars, or the urban dweller, because they don't use cars.
It won't even hurt the rich that much...Who will it hurt? the middle class who rely on personal transportation to get anywhere and who won't have
the government to turn to when ANYTHING they buy that is transported goes through the roof because of the increased cost of energy.

Why tax somethings and not other things? Why not tax it ALL through a consumption tax or national sales tax. Then it hits everyone equally and safeguards can be built in
to protect the tax from disproportionally hitting the poor.

As far as global warming, anecdotal things like the warm temps in the US don't mean a thing to me. Usually when there are warm temps somewhere, there are cold temps somewhere
else... like how cold it was in Alaska this past winter or how cool it is in London now.
Global warming may be happening, but whatever we do, we will not be able to stop it...only slow it down.. a little. Innovation has always come from economic or human need, not from
taxing it.

A bunch of chicken little's predicting the end of the world as we know it..yawn...
ANYTHING out of ordinary will now be tied to climate change.
Low amount of hurricanes
HIgh amount of hurricanes
unusually cold weather
unusually hot weather.....yadda yadda

The same climate experts that can't accurately give us a long range winter forecast are the sames ones that are telling us what our climate will be like in 50 years.

The people who push the green energy, like Al Gore, care nothing about the climate because they know we can't change it but the governments want to tax things they say cause it, and some people will make millions of dollars from it, and others will gain power and control.

Unprecedented Greenland Ice Melt Stuns NASA Scientists

According to a NASA press release, about half of Greenland's surface ice sheet naturally melts during an
average summer. But the data from three independent satellites this July, analyzed by NASA and university
scientists, showed that in less than a week, the amount of thawed ice sheet surface skyrocketed from 40
percent to 97 percent.

It's been a hot summer in the northern hemisphere, so this is no big surprise.
The sky is not falling, and even if it was, the world would not change the way it operates.
As far as NASA, they are quickly becoming irrelevant, this is about the only thing that will consistently get headlines for them, so why not milk the cow?

The people of the Carterets Islands, off the coast of Papua New Guinea, are beginning a migration
that is likely to continue for years to come. They are relocating to Bouganville, a larger island about
50 miles away across the open sea.

The first victims of Climate Change, they are forced to leave due to rising sea level.

The Carteret islanders are the harbingers of a major shift in human population expected to take place
in the coming century as millions of people are forced to migrate from low-lying coastal areas and islands.
The melting of polar ice sheets and glaciers, together with thermal expansion (water expands as it
absorbs heat from the atmosphere) could raise the level of the oceans by 1.4 metres (4ft 6in) by
2100, according to a report published last week by the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research.
