Neighbors don't seem to mind.....no?

Perhaps one should gather all of their facts before plastering private property all over the internet....such as going to rotterdam's town hall first...........yes?

Not sayin it's legal or not.....just saying....

You'd think that "virtual Rotterdam's" resident poster / town "official" could provide an answer.

But then the question is, who owns the property.  Any "town connections"  ??

dunno, and I'm just giving a general location and did my best not to show the entire property or the house #...............it's been there since late last summer and once again I'm not sure if anyone's complained...................I'm not finished looking at the town code (god awful document that it is) so I'm still not sure if it's covered anywhere. Hey it just strikes me as odd that you can erect something like that in your backyard................................I know there are ways to skirt town code if you really want to..............................a friend wanted to rebuild his garage..............found out that if he tore the old one down he couldn't rebuild it where it stood...........issues with being too close to other properties, town codes etc.............................his solution was to reconstruct it one wall at a time......so now there is an entirely new structure sitting on the same footprint as the old...............I'm just curious that's all................too many inconsistencies

No....going into private people's back yards and taking pictures is less invasive!!

Why is it apples an d oranges - they post pics of peoples property, in windows, in open garages, in peoples yards, etc - there's no difference with this picture, except this one isn't stamped with Obama's kiss of approval.

What about drones going over the top of your house?  Same thing.

What about hundreds of satellites circulating overhead - same thing.

I guess then you'd have less of a problem with me erecting a 15' fence around my property were I your neighbor, then you would of me taking a picture of your yard? Interesting....is your property not photogenic?

And just for arguments sake, if I were to tour the neighborhood taking photos of various houses and gardens to post as example of some of the nicer properties would you also object to that? Or is it just the fact I'm pointing out a structure that might be illegal? Hey it's not your house is it?

Well I was standing on the sidewalk and street so technically I wasn't in the back yard.

legal  - this is rotterdam - it all depends on which party you make your donation to

with the cops(Dems and Cons running the show - thay can choose not to enforce town code(local law) - it makes for more time to fight crime )

The Cops believe thare jobs if to fight crime(serve) after it has happend not to prevent(protect) crime

If the Cops upheld the local laws than maybe the sh!t would get the message that they are not welcome here

and say it is a decision to be handled by code inforcement

the best that will happen is the assessors office will assess it

soooooooooooo here's the deal......thanks to a few others for digging up some info on this, and although my original question of "Is it legal..." hasn't fully been answered, SueM2342 has come up with the closest  answer.............for you see it really doesn't matter whether it's legal or not, as long as you're connected in Rotterdam, you can pretty much do what you want......................I, as well as a few others, now know why a 15' outdoor "movie screen" can exist......unless you're "connected", don't try building one in your backyard..................I won't be posting any names but would be happy to share in a pm if you so desire......I might still try to see if town code covers anything like this, just for my own curiosity.......

Has nothing to do with "fear". Me, I'm not gonna bring grief down on others who I have respect for just cause I'd like to hold some others feet to the fire. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.
