Three schools on lockout due to police activity
By: Web Staff 9:14 AM

SCHENECTADY COUNTY, N.Y. -- Three schools in the Scotia-Glenville School District are on lockout this morning. We're told it's due to some police activity in the area.

Sacandaga Elementary School, Scotia-Glenville Middle School and Scotia-Glenville High School are all on lockout, meaning no one is allowed into the building.

It happened just as students were arriving for the day, so staff stood outside to greet buses and usher students safely into the building. Those students are now safely in the building, but no one else is allowed in at this time.

Scotia police said there was a domestic incident on Seely Street where a man had a knife. Police said the schools were placed on lockout while they searched for him. He is not in custody at this time.

Incident forces security increase at school
Updated 09:53 a.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2012

GLENVILLE - Several schools in the Scotia-Glenville school district are locked as police search for a man involved in an overnight domestic dispute, school officials said.

Students at Scotia-Glenville High School, Middle School, and Sacandaga Elementary School are allowed to move between classrooms but no one is allowed to enter the schools, officials said.

Police are searching for a man who they say was involved in a nearby dispute.

These lockouts are very scary for these kids. Fear sets in at such an early age these days.

How ridiculous!  I'd be more worried about the uniformed government goons wielding tasers and guns.

Did the police contact the area daycare centers?  How about St. Josephs Catholic School, were they put on lockdown?  How about Collins Park, was that locked down?

Crazy!

Insensitive comment - really?  Locking down 3 public schools in a Town that is 50 square miles and has 30,000 people in response to 1 man wielding a knife during a domestic dispute is a rational response?  C'mon!

This is the new America, where we teach our children irrational fear to insignificant threats.

I'd love to know how the police came to the conclusion that 1 man wielding a knife during a domestic dispute was going to go to 3 public schools to harm the children.

Are the Glenville police currently or in the near future going to be negotiating their contract?

Often in a 'domestic dispute' children are put in the middle of the confrontation.
Occasionally the dispute ends up with one parent pulling the kids out of school.  An armed 'irate' parent in a school
is a danger to everyone in the school, kids and adults alike.

Had this armed parent entered the school and held a class hostage... Cic would be posting about the poor
response of the local and state police to this emergency.

Cic as always, wants it both ways.

I would try to provide you with an anwer here and explain these actions and their value, but that would only work if I was communicating with a person of rational thinking.........no ridicule, just plain observation.

I'm sure you still 'duck and cover' to protect yourself from the nuclear attacks.  More hobgoblins.

Do you have kids Cic?
Have you heard of Columbine???

Columbine High School massacre     Littleton, Colorado     April 20     1999     15killed
Red Lake Senior High School massacre     Red Lake, Minnesota     March 21     2005     8killed
Amish school shooting     Nickel Mines, Pennsylvania     October 2     2006     6killed
Alisal High School     Salinas, California     October 1     2010     1killed
Kelly Elementary School     Carlsbad, California     October 8     2010     2 (wounded)
Marinette High School     Marinette, Wisconsin     November 29     2010     1killed
Millard South High School shooting     Omaha, Nebraska, United States     January 5     2011     2killed
Worthing High School     Houston, Texas     March 30     2011     1killed
Pearl City Middle School     Pearl City, Hawaii     May 23     2011     1killed
WChardon High School shooting     Chardon, Ohio     February 27     2012     3killed

You can make fun of a cautious response to protect our kids Cicero... but I'm sure the parents of these kids
wished that they had the response that Scotia received today.
