Even leaders of the Nazi Party had the Nuremberg trials before being put to death. And some leaders were even aquitted. Imagine that!!! I know, you can't.
Of course! That is why Al-Awlaki was on a kill or capture list. It was preferable to capture him. Had he been living in Rotterdam where law enforcement could possibly capture him, there would have been no need of the Predator strike. Where he was living in Yemen, it would have been extremely difficult with a large probability of failure and loss of life by those attempting a capture. I would prefer that Al-Awlaki were captured. Since that was impossible, to prevent even more terrorist murders, the Drone Strike was needed.

Impossible...Hmmmmm....
So SEAL Team 6 allegedly flies a couple of helicopters into Pakistan and perform the raid in the middle of the night, on the "mastermind" of 9/11 Osama Bin Laden's compound which was located in a heavily fortified Pakistani military base, and suffer no American casualties...BUT...We couldn't capture the American citizen and first Imam to perform post 9/11 prayer service at the U.S. Capitol in 2002 that was working on his PHD at George Washington University in his dirt hut in Yemen.
Let's get back to talking about the money to be made in roasted and gold leafed fetuses. This could really help the poor mothers in the inner city. If we really want to raise women out of poverty, Planned Parenthood should offer to roast, gold leaf, and market these fetuses in Taiwan for these poor women.

Good point, might I also add that Al-Awlaki was on the road at the time of the strike, not hunkered down in a compound. I don't want our troops or police in harms way but that is the job they took, the rule of law doesn't get thrown out because their job is dangerous.
"In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, brave, hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a Patriot."

IF you've read any of the reports on Bin Laden, the fact that he was in ONE LOCATION, no longer mobile, made the Pakistan raid possible. There was time to establish covert operatives in Pakistan, who moved in to the area around Bin Laden's compound and plan the attack. Planning to get Binladen started in January 2011, and carried out months later in May.
Al-Awlaki was a moving target with limited time (possibly minutes) to plan and carry out the entire attack.

I hope they are studying Al-Awlaki's brilliant strategies at West Point. He seems to be the most elusive American citizen enemy this nation has ever seen. The greatest military the earth has ever seen, and they couldn't figure out how to capture him alive. They could capture Saddam alive in a spider hole in the middle of the desert, but Al-Awlaki, IMPOSSIBLE.
Yeah Henry, READ THE GOVERNMENT REPORTS!! If you want the truth, read the reports. Geez, everybody know that.
The definition of a cynic...
cyn·ic noun 1. a person who believes that only selfishness motivates human actions and who disbelieves in or minimizes selfless acts or disinterested points of view. 2. a person who shows or expresses a bitterly or sneeringly cynical attitude. 3. a person who believes the worst about people or the outcome of events

It WAS possible to capture Al-Awlaki alive, but it would be time consuming, dangerous and the likelihood of success was poor.
BTW, Saddam was captured by offering a reward for his location. Saddam was hiding in a country who's army was destroyed, and the population in a state of civil war. If you remember, early on there were many attempts to kill Saddam, and all failed. Saddam would appear live on Iraqi Television and yet manage to evade US smart bombs.
(Cicero hates it when the facts don't agree with his agenda! He just hates it!

I think I gave you a couple examples of U.S. Government lies to get us into war. I started with the Gulf of Tonkin, and ended with the Iraq WMD's. YOU even told me to read War is a Racket.
If you believe U.S. foreign policy and military actions are selfless, then you've done a complete 180 degrees since telling me to read War is a Racket and you were calling GWB a war criminal. It's amazing how the change of a political party can reshape a person's beliefs.

The Yemen Army prevented us from capturing Al-Awlaki? Pakistan is a nuclear power and we allegedly performed a covert mission on their soil to "capture or kill" Bin Laden that was housed next to their premier military installation?
Screw invading Iran, we need to worry about Yemen. They wouldn't allow us to extradite one of our citizens charged with "terrorism".

Of course, (the rest of us already know this, but Cic seems lost on the issue) each case should be taken on it's own merits. If President Obama, or (if hell freezes over) President Paul, makes a case to go to war, it should be considered by the facts on the issue... not by whether a previous president lied.
Just because President G Worst Bush lied, doesn't mean that other presidents will. Not a difficult premise Cic... Try to keep up.

Yemen cooperated with intelligence and information about Awlaki's location on several occasions, including with the Predator raid that killed the terrorist. AlQaeda is just as much a threat to their govt as it is to ours.

Well, Obama lied too...Remember his "closing Gitmo" campaign rhetoric? Or his Patriot Act warrantless wiretapping rhetoric.
So I agree with your premise. You just seem to dismiss your own merit based premise and your advice to read War is a Racket and the list of historical lies, and you've yet to comment on the selfless sacrifice of 58K men in Vietnam sold on a lie. You also seem to be able to decipher between when Obama lies and is telling the truth.

Isn't it against international law to assist in the execution of a person? Can Mexico deploy forces in the U.S. and can the U.S. provide intel to assist in the execution of one of Mexico's citizens?
