After a brief ownership of Little Super on Helderberg by a husband/wife team, it has again been sold to another individual.
I was getting to know the couple fairly well, they were really nice people. They enjoyed the store, even took time to show me the way it had been remodeled since I worked there as a kid. I don't know the new owner, but so far I'm not impressed, not sure if I've got enough time left here to get to know them well, I doubt it though.
Anyway, their pizza plans haven't worked out - they were supposed to have daily pizza, baked on premises, but so far it's been a bust. They were going to have soft serve ice cream also - but those plans are scrapped now too.
It's a shame, they had good prices - good products and were very convenient - not so much anymore.
I wish them luck, but I bet it isn't long before it's either closed again or deteriorates to "just another convenience store"
Just my 2cents, plus tax.

I wonder if any business like that has a chance anymore........................always fondly remember the Little Super, Dom and Benny.................Dom turned me away from a life of crime when he caught me tryin' to pilfer a package of flower seeds........I was 7.........when he threatened to tell Mom and Dad I was so petrified I swore to him I would never steal again. ..............I kept that promise......
I'm within walking distance of the little super. Actually, I'm surprised it lasted this long as I have never seen a lot of traffic in the place. I think it really needs to hold some other type of business as the parking lot alone negates competing with stewarts, Cumby's , etc

They have (had) a cool advantage - their prices were good (as of a week ago) - dairy was fresh and prices were competitive, IMHO. I'd rather help support a mom/pop outfit whenever possible.
One night, we were doing something, I forgot what, and needed instant vanilla pudding. Instead of running to PC or Hannaford, I stopped there - taking a big chance that they had it. Not only DID they have it, but it was cheaper than PC/Hannaford. Even their milk was priced competitively with others (3.29 there -v- 2.99 best price elsewhere).
A little historical fact from a geezer.............the house on the corner of Westside and Helderberg used to be a gas station...........I see that the pad for the station is still there...........used to be one gas pump...................

Well, considering in another thread we were talking about the ice cream trucks, it brought me to looking at some newspapers that were from before I was born (sorry if that makes you feel like more of a geezer). Anyway, do you remember that at one point, they wanted to put another gas station in on Curry Rd? It would be right where the church is, I believe on the corner across from where Mohonasen's driveway comes out. The planning committee turned it down (maybe, unless it was the town board, don't remember).
Where was Hamils gas station in the town? I remember (barely) gas being at 29 cents reg and 33 cents premium. I was like 6 years old the. I want to say it was on the corner of guilderland and vischer aves...but the picture in my mind does line up with the map.

I think it's pretty neat that I can offer some historical perspective now and then.......I don't remember that one at all though........it may be because I was living somewhere other than town at the time though and wasn't paying as much attention to things................1975 I moved to Burtonsville

don't get me started on our town historian, a guy who didn't grow up here or live here ....................which reminds me I need to get back to work on my drone fleet......

two block walking distance for me too...told Alias, used to always go there as a kid. They would hold model car contests and I have a bunch of trophies from that. They were good people. Anyone remember when they were held up and one was taken hostage????
