Obviously no one has seen the Dirty Harry movie "The Enforcer." No one can deal with sarcastic satire anymore. I find the lot of you culturally illiterate, even on something as fundamental as a Clint Eastwood Film...

Heaven forbid we insult people's sensibilities...........................................or stray from "civilized debate"..........................................I've always felt a brick through a window accomplishes a whole lot more than a letter to the editor.....................but then that's just me
It used to be illegal for a black to marry a white in North Carolina... That changed, this will to.
It's not the business of the government to make a relationship between two or more consenting adults legal OR illegal, whether interracial, homo, heterosexual, or even polygamy.
The neo-cons use the same coercive powers of government as liberals do to shape society into their view.

Maybe you haven't been paying close attention to the state republican party primary in states like Maine, Iowa, Louisiana, and Minnisota.
The republican party is moving away from being 'democrat light' soft fascism and collectivism. It is returning to the Republic and states rights and individualism and liberty. I know it is painful to watch, and understand denial is always the first reaction when faced with this uncomfortable reality.

The Republican Platform for 2008 planned a 'Constitutional Amendment' to outlaw abortion. This cycle will likely be the same. See below:
"Faithful to the first guarantee of the Declaration of Independence, we assert the inherent dignity and sanctity of all human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution, and we endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children. "
Kind of makes your statement: "It is returning to the Republic and states rights and individualism and liberty"... sound like a pile of crap doesn't it!

And this isn't the 1850's+...And this is like the 30th state to pro-vote its's constituion to say what marriage is defined as and... Oh and PROTIP...Your trivial attempt to make this a 'race' issue, as your former talking point has made is fail. Anyone of any RACE, in any state can marry any one OF ANY RACE FAIL
1850's? Really Buck??? It was illegal for a white to marry blacks in North Carolina in my lifetime. The laws were enforced until outlawed as Unconstitutional on June 12th 1967 (see Loving v. Virginia).
In the United States, anti-miscegenation laws (also known as miscegenation laws) were state laws passed by individual states to prohibit miscegenation, nowadays more commonly referred to as interracial marriage and interracial sex. Typically defining miscegenation as a felony, these laws prohibited the solemnization of weddings between persons of different races and prohibited the officiating of such ceremonies.
Marriage Equity for all Americans will follow the same route as the miscegenation laws... North Carolina's vote will be overturned by the US Supreme court.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says he now supports same-sex marriage, ending months of equivocation on a subject with powerful election-year consequences. Obama says he has concluded that it is important for him to affirm that he thinks same-sex couples should be able to get married. He says he came to the conclusion over the course of several years of talking to family and friends. Obama has previously said his personal views of gay marriage were evolving, a stance that frustrated gay rights supporters.
Obama's views seem to mirror the views of the majority of Americans... the trend is towards an acceptance of gay marriage.

For First Time, Majority of Americans Favor Legal Gay Marriage

There is a generational gap on this issue. Older people tend to be against it, younger for it. That' s good news for the marriage equality crowd. When this generation moves on their bigotry and hatred will go with them. 100 years from now people will look back at this issue with shame that their recent ancestors were still thinking using hate based ideology over common sense.
Democrats' and independents' support for legalized same-sex marriage increased this year by 13 and 10 points, respectively. Republicans' views on the issue did not change from last year. Clear majorities of both Democrats and independents now support gay marriage, 69% and 59% respectively, contrasted with 28% support among Republicans.
Support for legal gay marriage decreases markedly with age, ranging from 70% support among those aged 18 to 34, to 39% support among those 55 and older. More broadly, support is highest among younger women and lowest among older men. (Galllup)

What "this" generation are you talking about? The 60's anti establishment generation? The Woodstock generation? The generation that is currently in all levels of government?
The current immigration patterns and birth rates show that the African American and Hispanic population will become a combined majority in the near future. Both groups are highly anti gay marriage. Don't expect the state licensing of homosexuality to become accepted nationwide anytime soon.

And then you returned from fantasy land.
31 States have now outlawed it. EVERYTIME it has been put up for a vote in ANY state it has been shot down. Even California has shot it down MULTIPLE times.
So no...Americans DO NOT support 'Gay Marriage'. They DO, however. support laws that offer rights to gay couples.
Nice try to spin.
