oh and I almost forgot to ask, are you planning to join in and participate in the next round of protests, or will you be lending your support from the safety of the internet......................
I took a few trips to Albany to get a feel for what was going on there when the Occupy movement first started.

I also spent a weekend in the Anacostia Naval Base in '67 in case things got out of hand at the protests in DC... so I've seen the issue from both sides of the fence. (Boring weekend... lots of pizza and no liberty!)

The NYPD blogs are already considering it to be a non-event in the making, being stirred up by the right wing noise machine, and if that's how the NYPD Rants (which is slightly more right wing than Attilla The Hun) posters see it, I'm inclined to believe them. The only people worried about this oh so big disruption, are the mouth breathers that live in east hell, who spend their day pining away for the good old days that never existed in the first place, while they touch themselves to the Palin pics from free republic.
I grew up in NYC, and May 1st is my birthday. As a kid, my parents used to take me downtown to the Central Park May Day celebrations. May 1st, has always been pretty much known as a workers rights day, and there have been pro-labor protesters out in force there for as long as I've been alive. To the cops, it's FAR less of a hassle than St Patricks day, Puerto Rico day, or the West Indian day. OWS worries the NYPD about as much as a cloudy day. The only people that are flustered about it are a bunch of imbeciles who will never be within 100 miles of the place, but are concerned because some douche nozzle on AM radio, or Fox told them they should be.
I don't have a problem with people protesting, provided it does not infringe on other peoples ability to participate in commerce, get to/from work in a timely manner, etc. The problem is, most of these groups agendas are not to protest, but to disrupt.
How about picket lines blocking places of employment?
How about picket lines blocking places of employment?
Picket lines are fine as long as they don't stop people from entering the property, example is the pro-life picketers on State St almost everyday, they stand out there with their picket signs but never block anyone from entering. If they did block people then they're in the wrong.

May Day Eve Quickly Turns Ugly In San Francisco The Atlantic WireBy Dashiell Bennett | The Atlantic Wire – 4 hrs ago May Day Eve Quickly Turns Ugly In San Francisco
A day that is expected to be filled with anti-establishment protests all around the globe began early last night with a roving band of "anarchists" smashing car windows and store fronts in San Francisco's Mission District. The mini-riot (which was technically on April 30, but still) may have started as a "ruckus street party" organized by Occupy Oakland protesters who invaded their sister city last night, but whoever was responsible appeared to show little regard for the property of either the 1% or the other 99. http://news.yahoo.com/may-day-eve-quickly-turns-ugly-san-francisco-091023433.html
I couldn't get my Dunkin Donuts coffee...Occupy shut it down.
I couldn't get to the unemployment office!!

The day was mostly quiet they said, oh except for the vandalism, assaults on police, fires being set, and a attempted terrorist attack by blowing up as bridge, other than that though the day remained mostly peaceful

May Day protests turn violent in Seattle
As activists across the U.S. joined in worldwide May Day protests Tuesday, Seattle protestors dressed in black clothing smashed windows of retail stores and banks and spray-painted parked cars.
Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn says he's making an emergency declaration allowing police to confiscate items that can be used as weapons following violent May Day protests that left storefronts and car windows shattered.
Police said officers made at least three arrests after hundreds of people marched through downtown Tuesday afternoon. A 23-year-old man was arrested for vandalism and a 19-year-old man with a knife was also arrested.
Protestors dressed in black clothing smashed windows of retail stores and banks, and spray-painted parked cars, reported Q13 FOX News. NikeTown, American Apparel, HSBC, and Wells Fargo were among the businesses protesters vandalized.
McGinn said protesters were using items that looked like flagpoles as weapons. He said his order would enable police to take those items away from people before they are used to cause damage. McGinn said his action would help protect public safety as protests continued into Tuesday evening.
