I'm no fan of the Republican party as we know it today.
The Democrats have several bad habits as well.
I don't really object to many Conservative values. Just their desire to inflict it on others.
Let's start a list of things we don't like about each party.
Republicans:
1. Against voting the same way it has been done for centuries. 2. Against health care reform and coverage for everyone. 3. Against women's rights to decide for themselves matters of procreation and birth control. 4. Against Gays and lesbians being treated as equals. 5. Against giving shareholders the RIGHT to have a say on executive compensation of public companies. 6. Against alternative energies. 7. Against the payroll tax cuts. 8. Against not increasing college tuition. 9. Against Job Bills. 10. Against science. 11. Against ecology. 12. Against food stamps and welfare. 13. Against immigration and immigration reform. 14. In favor of foreign intervention. 15. In favor of preemptive attacks. 16. In favor of the use of torture. 17. In favor of using more oil. 18. In favor of drilling. 19. In favor of tax cuts for the rich. 20. In favor of corporations.
Democrats:
1. Against controlled spending. 2. Against the Iraqi occupation. 3. Against environmental damage. 4. In favor of food stamps and welfare. 5. In favor of health care for everyone. 6. In favor of alternative energy plans and incentives. 7. In favor of education spending. 8. In favor of immigration law reform. 9. In favor of taxing corporations and the rich. 10. In favor of increasing powers of the government's tracking of people and searching people without just cause. 11. Increasing all powers of the government.
Conservatives:
1. Against birth control. 2. Against abortion. 3. Against welfare. 4. Against food stamps. 5. Against lowering costs for students. 6. Against treating gays and lesbians as equals. 7. In favor of smaller government. 8. In favor of free markets. 9. In favor of voluntary giving in place of forced taxation. 10. In favor of a strict moral code. 11. In favor of personal responsibility. 12. In favor of blind patriotism. 13. In favor of war as a negotiating tool.

Many of today's Republicans consider Ronald Raegan to be the greatest republican President ever. I think that despite the
tragic ending, Richard Nixon had a lot of good ideas and could have been the greatest republican President ever.
Nixon enacted affirmative action.
Nixon sought a middle way between the segregationist Wallace and liberal Democrats, whose support of integration
was alienating some Southern whites.
Nixon advocated a "New Federalism", which would devolve power to state and local elected officials, though
Congress was hostile to these ideas and enacted few of them.
As part of the Nixon Doctrine that the US would avoid direct combat assistance to allies where possible, instead
giving them assistance to defend themselves, the US greatly increased arms sales to the Middle East—particularly
Israel, Iran and Saudi Arabia—during the Nixon administration.
Nixon ended the Viet Nam war.
Nixon ended the draft.
Nixon broke new ground by discussing environment policy in his State of the Union speech; other initiatives
supported by Nixon included the Clean Air Act of 1970 and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA);
the National Environmental Policy Act required environmental impact statements for many Federal projects
