when I was in my 20's I was just glad to be off the 'school farm' where the masses get herded around like cattle....from one mundane boring room to another....
baaaaaaaaaa
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS
This will be my first and last post on this forum and all that I ask is that you fix the spelling of the word Sheriff on the main header for this page.
Well, I see I won't be voting for you.
If your going to come on this board and make a statement like this, it already shows you have a real sh*tty attitude. I'm sure all your public sector union brosefs will come out in full force, marching in lock step up to the polls to vote you in as the newest 'yes man' muppet.

That was back when a murderer or serial killer was shocking and captured the attention and fears of the region and country. Now it is like "so what?" Murders and killings even perpetrated by children don't surprise us anymore. Thanks, liberals.

now, with this dialogue I can fully understand how the youngster feels....about coming to this blog...stating and defending himself....it's not attitude...
I probably did the same thing...prejudge and analyze.....well after this past election....I won't do it much more.....
Looks like a lot of people misjudged a lot when it comes to politicians.....I will push for DIVERSITY......and intend to do homework on that...
You will find that it is lacking in this town.....
Wait see .....and no more mud slinging....and comparisons....
It really frustrates me that this any issue can turn into a debocle...

I have never been a registered republican and have never heard of the existence of the position “junior CO.“ I have worked at the Sheriff’s Department for over two years now and my salary is not $46,760. I do not know where your sources come from but they are far from correct. I have attended multiple school board meetings and meetings with various members of the school district to understand the issues that our city is facing within the school system . I have many great ideas that I feel will benefit the school system and have been born and raised in this great city. I went to school in Schenectady at Woodlawn Elementary , Mont Pleasant Middle School , and Schenectady High School for ninth and tenth grades. I can assure you that I have no hidden agendas and will work my hardest to improve the lives and the quality of education the students are receiving. This will be my first and last post on this forum and all that I ask is that you fix the spelling of the word Sheriff on the main header for this page.
Thank You , Dan Garrow
No problem if you don't respond on this board, but just to confirm for you, this is what is reported by the countyh to the state. Looks like you'll have to contact the policy center and tell them your salary is wrong, I'm sure they'll provide you with the actual week to week payrolls, actually.
Many of us here are not city people, but if you do run and win, just remember the homeonwers should come first. With most all of the politically connected and well heeled downtown properties tax exempt (even though they ARE "for profits" their taxes still have to be paid, and they are paid by the homeonwers in the city. And if you read today's Gazette story about the levy going down but the taxes going up, actually, go to the thread "Outside Rotterdam" and read that, I had written prior to this how the taxes get figured and why taxes BILLS go up when tax RATES go down, and why tax BILLS go up when tax RATES go up. It's the lack of controlling spending, the lack of cutting. And frankly, the Schenectady school district has got to get out of the business of teaching kids to dance and paint fingernails and get back to the three R's. Leave the fluff classes for post high school and the places like Merrit's dance studeio0, Pigliavento's and whatever others there are. Students can't pass reading and math tests but they can dance but they are not prodigy's. Too many people figure the kids can take the easy way to self sufficiency thinking if they can sing and dance they'll make it to Hollywood, and if they can play the major sports they'll make milions. How many students in the histsory of the city have made it to major league sports. Yes, we hear about that Casper Wells which is a current person, but besides him, how many? Remember the year that Schdy high won the basketball state title, mid 1990's I think, they hade that Willie Dean. Where is he? Is he in the NBA making $50 million? They think that sports, and dance/singing is the easy way to success without having to learn all that science, the math, a foreign language, history, grammar, reading and writing. Lack of reading comprehension ability and you've got "graduates" who fell for the school district's story back when the district put up a bond issue to build a swimming pool---the district told the people of the city that they would not be paying for the $10 million swimming pools because "the state was paying 82% of the cost" For one thing, where's the other 18% coming from, but more importantly, where does the state get the money from? And isnt it interesting that after the taxpayers had to shell out $10 million of thei hard earned money, they can't even use the pool, at least that's what I think I remember, that the pool was closed to the public due to budget cuts.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Finally an intelligent reply.
One little thing about the salary. He said he has worked there for over 2 years. He would have had to make more than 1,000 dollars in 2009. Do corrections officers actually get 45,000 their first year? That doesn't seem right.
But you are correct, the overburdened taxpayers need to come first. They have been paying to remodel downtown for the past 40 years. Over 1/3 of the eligible tax dollars are exempted by the development agency. Stick to the basics. Push for online classes. A single teacher can teach 200 kids online easily.
