President Barack Obama is about to launch a 5,000-mile, four-state, two-day trip on Air Force One to contain the political damage caused by high gas prices.
Obama is slated to fly out this Wednesday to camera-ready podiums in Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Colorado, from where he’ll tout his administration’s efforts to reduce the nation’s use of gasoline.
His 5,000-mile trip will consume roughly 25,000 gallons of jet fuel, according to Boeing.
That adds up to a fuel bill of $80,000, assuming the Air Force buys jet fuel at the cheapest cost, now estimated at $3.20 a gallon by the U.S. Energy Administration. The retail price for jet-fuel at local airports is just over $6 a gallon, including taxes.
Still, the cheapest jet-fuel costs about 43 cents less per gallon than the $3.63 cost of auto gasoline in Columbus, in swing-state Ohio, where the president will make his final speech on the trip.
The cost of gasoline is boosted by state taxes, which amount to roughly 40 cents per gallon, according to GasBuddy.com, which tracks the cost of gasoline in each state.
The president’s support aircraft, including the C-17 cargo jets that carry his armored limousines and additional vehicles to cities before his arrival, will each burn a comparable amount of additional jet-fuel during the campaign swing.
He's been on the campaign jet, flying around, since his "president elect" days ... everything he does is a campaign stop, at our expense.
This doesn't even take into account the cost of AF1, support staff, advance teams, secret service, follow-jets, airforce officers/personnel, plus the costs of the reporter pools, hotels, meals, etc etc etc.
This doesn't even take into account the cost of AF1,
You also forgot about the backup 'AF1' that is always on stand-by in case something happens to the Boeing that the POTUS came in on.

A quick search of the internet will tell you George W Bush averaged 209 flights a year in office..

The Truth: The first part of this commentary is actually from the Los Angeles Times January 3, 2011 blog of Andrew Malcolm who reported on the findings of a CBS report by Mark Knoller called "Obama's 2010: By the Numbers."
Knoller has been "keeping track of some of the numerical aspects of the Presidency," according to a video posted on the CBS web site and has tabulated a number of things from how many speeches President Obama has given to how many times he has used Air Force One, the Presidential jet.
Malcolm used a November 24, 2010Fox News Report, that said that the Air Force provided an estimate on the operational cost of the Air Force One to a "staggering -- $181,757 per hour."
According to the Fox News Report, the President's 2010 trip to India, Indonesia, South Korea and Japan logged an estimated Air Force One flight time of 48 hours at a cost of close to $8.7 million. The president also visited Lisbon, Portugal, for a NATO conference at a cost of $2.7 million.
Whether or not the number of flights is in excess may be another matter. Knoller also wrote an article in 2009 with a final tabulation of George W. Bush's eight year term in the Oval Office and citing his source as the Presidential Airlift Group the previous Commander in Chief flew Air Force One 1,674 times over a total distance of 1,490,698 miles. That averages out to 209 trips per year for President George W. Bush.
I don't spell check! Sorry... If you include "No offense" in a statement, chances are, your statement is offensive.
And this is different from any sitting president (GWorst Bush, Clinton, Daddy Bush, Ronny The Reygun) when they ran fore reelection how???
