Some employers and college are asking to see applicants' Facebook    pages from job applicants and student athletes, according to a report on Tuesday.
MSNBC's Red Tape Chronicles blog said job applicants at the Maryland Department of Corrections have been asked to log into their accounts so that interviewers could see their wall posts, friends, photos and anything else they may have behind the social network's privacy wall.
The American Civil Liberties Union complained when the department asked applicants to surrender their user name and password, so now the request is that they log in "voluntarily" during the job interview.
The blog reported that student-athletes at colleges around the country are being asked to "friend" a school official, giving them access to posts meant for friends only.

Senators ask feds to probe requests for passwords

SEATTLE (AP) - Two U.S. senators are asking Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate whether employers asking for Facebook passwords during job interviews are violating federal law.

Democratic Sens. Chuck Schumer of New York and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut said Sunday that they are calling on the Department of Justice and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to launch investigations. The senators are sending letters to the heads of the agencies.

The Associated Press reported this week that some private and public agencies around the country are asking job seekers for their social media credentials. The practice has alarmed privacy advocates...................>>>>..............>>>>..............................http://www.news10.com
