Conrary to what DV says, the taxes in the town and county have gone UP courtesty of the dems   (people who do not own homes and thus are not taxpayers don't understand what the dems are doing to us).  

Just got our monthly mortgage statement.  Oh how wonderful, our monthly payment is going up by about $20 per month because of escrow shortage!   The increase in homeonwers insurance I can see amounts to about $3.00 per month of escrow.

We went through this last year too.   We do what most people do, pay extra on the principal, personally we strive to have an end result at the end of the year to have paid an "extra payment and a half"   Most people we know pay extra principal and and most say they just like to round up the payment to a $50 or $100 multiple.   Unless you increase that multiple, this wild spending by the current leaders is going to eat into homeonwers saving money over the life ot their mortgage.   And the worst thing is that, locally, that increase is also going to pay the increase o the property taxes of the politically connected and well-heeled exempt businesses primarily downtown.   I would hate to see the escrow increae in the city.  

And these local leaders are spending the taxpayers' money, many homeonwers who are near the end of paying off their mortgage or have done so, will still itemize deductions because the total property taxes will exceed the amount of the standard deduction!   YKES
