PepsiCo to Cut 8,700 Jobs, Spend More on Marketing Brands February 09, 2012, 9:29 PM EST By Duane D. Stanford
Feb. 9 (Bloomberg) -- PepsiCo Inc. plans to cut 8,700 jobs and boost marketing spending for its brands by as much as $600 million as Chief Executive Officer Indra Nooyi works to speed up profit growth at the world’s largest snack-food maker.
The job cuts, which represent about 3 percent of PepsiCo’s global workforce, and other measures may save about $1.5 billion by 2014, the Purchase, New York-based company said today in a statement............................>>>>........................>>>>..................http://www.businessweek.com/ne.....arketing-brands.html

Pepsi also just raised their prices. For my business it's an extra 6 cents per bottle of soda. |

So it appears that in tough economic times, some companies are adding jobs, others are cutting jobs. The point??? |

what yours? I'm is just a counter to yours..you can't go 5 minutes after a post listing job cuts with one of one of yours listing gains. All this talk about jobs and unemployment always misses the key stat no one wants to talk about. The percentage of people in the US participating in the work force. ... which is a 63.7% and has been dropping since 2007. http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t01.htm If you take the BS unemployment percentage, which doesn't count people that have given up and the "job" creation numbers ( it should called job restoration), it would leave to believe things are getting better...they're not, at best we are treading water |

Posting that one company cut a thousand or added a thousand jobs, unless it's specific to our area, is kind of irrelevant. Posting that jobs were cut, or that jobs were added has little value in the overall unemployment or jobs picture.
My post was to counter the original post of job cuts. |

there are a BUNCH of folks out of work because they are not tech savvy.....to get rehired without the tech background(practically anywhere)can be a stumbling block....getting rehired to an outdated job is OK as long as one has something to fall back on.....
I think the civil rights movement could almost equate to the tech movement
ethnicity rights can equate to education rights |
