I want to thank everyone for all the prayers and well wishes. Madeline means the world to us and it's so scary to think we may lose her soon. She has an inoperable tumor in her brain stem which is very rare and does not respond to chemo. We have the best doctors from around the country looking at her case but what we need is a miracle because they all say there is nothing we can do. So please pray for her and for her sisters and her family.
Madeline Musto is a fun loving, energetic 5 year old that lives in Schenectady, NY with her parents, sisters and dog Sparky. Her family recieved this terrible news on February 3, 2012. This site will be used to support the Musto family in their time of need. They have all touched our lives with their Musto Magic! Now it's time for us to give them a miracle!

In the last few days, at least three of my friends have posted links to a story about Madeline Musto, a five-year-old girl who was recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. One asked me to tell Madeline’s story here, since she and her family live in Schenectady.
A website, Miracle 4 Maddie, has been established to tell the family’s story. According to a post at the website, Madeline’s tumor is like a “3 dimensional spider web” in her brain stem – leaving doctors no way to operate. Traditional chemo will not work on this type of cancer; radiation can slow the growth, but is not known to be a cure.

Rotterdam — Madeline Elizabeth Musto, known to many as Maddie, gained her wings and joined God in Heaven on February 8, 2012. After a brief but brave fight with cancer she will now spend the rest of her ‘best day evers’ as an angel. Madeline was a vibrant, independent and lovely kindergartener. She was beautifully kind, positive and happy, so very happy. She was born in Albany, NY on June 25, 2006 and has been an incredible blessing to all who met her every single day of her life. Maddie enjoyed playing with friends, school, drawing, running (faster than a cheetah), and swimming (because she wasn’t just part fish, God made her ALL fish!). Her most treasured times were spent with her family, her sisters, her grandparents, her cousins, her aunts and uncles.She loved her family. Madeline inspired so many people in life and in death, to be happy, to smile all the time, to love and enjoy every moment with their family and to live like a crazy little Musto chick. Madeline will be so very missed. There is a piece missing in our family, but she is with God and all the other Angels now, and she has wings. We know that she will be with us for every family dinner, trip, sunset and moment in our hearts. She is survived by her parents, Matthew and Erin (Wilson) Musto; her sisters, Amelia and Lucy; her paternal grandparents, Richard and Anna Marie (Siragusa) Musto of Watertown, NY; her maternal grandparents, Richard and Mary (Connor) Wilson of Brownville, NY; her maternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Wilson of Watertown, NY; aunts and uncles, Nathan and Jordan Musto, Travis (Lisa) Wilson, Rikki (John) Booth, Cortney (Damon) Kirkby and Molly Wilson. ROTTERDAM — If Matthew Musto needed to remember an errand, he would tell his 5-year-old daughter Madeline — 'Maddie' — because she had a "memory like an elephant" and would made sure he didn't forget.
The little girl, who her parents Friday described as fiercely independent and always smiling, also made sure that her two younger sisters, Amelia, 4, and 31/2 year-old Lucy, behaved themselves.
And Maddie became affectionately known as her mother's "rule-abiding citizen" for encouraging Erin Musto, 29, to be on the lookout for deer and obey traffic laws while driving.
"Her whole purpose was to care about and make sure everybody was OK," said Matthew Musto, 30, Friday as he painfully recounted his daughter's short life. Erin Musto said that her daughter's New Year's resolution was to walk the family dog, Sparky, a black miniature dachshund, more often.
Just before 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Madeline Musto died of a rare inoperable tumor on her brain stem at Albany Medical Center Hospital with family members by her side.
She was in kindergarten at Bradt Elementary School in Rotterdam where the family lives. On Sunday, Maddie received her First Communion at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Troy.
The Musto girls were so tight they slept in the same bed even though they each had their own, recalled Matthew Musto, a project manager for a non profit organization.
Besides hanging out with her sisters, Maddie was a huge fan of the Disney Channel television sitcom, "Good Luck Charlie," and enjoyed arts and crafts, and drawing, said her mother.
It was only after Maddie was diagnosed Feb. 3 with the tumor that the family connected the earlier dizzying spells and other seemingly innocuous symptoms to the terminal illness. Doctors at Albany Med gave her weeks, maybe months, to live. The family was suppose to fly to Disney World in Florida Friday on a Make a Wish Foundation trip.
When word of Maddie's condition spread, the family received a wellspring of support, including the use of a lodge at Lake Placid last weekend where dozens of Madeline's loved ones rallied around her, said Matthew Musto. Once they returned to Rotterdam, her condition worsened and traveling back and forth to the hospital only made matters worse so the oncologist came to them.
Tuesday, Maddie's father held on to her all night on the couch and watched helplessly as her breathing became more labored. At one point he asked her how she was doing.
She responded: "I can't do the things I want to do."

SCHENECTADY, NY - A fundraiser will be held on March 3 in honor of 5-year-old Maddie Musto who died of a brain tumor.
Maddie died days after being diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor. The fundraiser will help immediate expenses her family has and to help carry on Maddie's legacy.
Mothers of Pre-Schoolers (MOPS) is hosting a memorial fundraiser in Maddie's honor on Saturday, March 3.
The event will be held at the Sonrise Bible Church on 1082 Dunnsville Road in Schenectady from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Admission is $10 per child and adults are free. There will be a silent auction, raffles, bake sale, games, crafts, and more.
