Many PP facilities offer mammograms which are preformed at area facilities or hospitals at no or low cost.  Breast
exams and screening are done at the PP facility, as well as counseling about treatment options if cancer is detected.

Gotta just love the fear tactics!!! OMG!

That's all it is, that's what it always was, that's all it ever will be. Fear sells that is why the government and media pushes it so far.

All seven California Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Foundation affiliates have come out in
opposition to the group’s new, national policies that bar them from funding Planned Parenthood.

Here’s a statement they just sent to California’s congressional delegation:

The seven California Affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure are strongly opposed to Komen National’s new grant
making policy. This policy prevents Komen Affiliates from funding organizations under investigation at the regional,
state or federal level. Planned Parenthood is currently the subject of an “inquiry” in Congress.
We are working with our National organization to clear the way for Komen Affiliates to continue to make local grant
decisions based on their community needs. Know that women will continue to be served in California. Any grants
currently in affect in our State will be continued though the end of the year.
We will work on this within our own organization with the same tenacity and passion that we worked with our
legislators in keeping the state’s breast cancer screening program, Every Women Counts, operating. Our California
collaborative will not rest until this issue is resolved.
Komen volunteers have worked tirelessly for the past 30 years to increase awareness, screening and research for
the cure. What we have experienced and witnessed over the last two days is an extraordinary level of passion for
these important issues to women. Our commitment to our mission is unwavering. This is a misstep in that journey
nd we want to assure all Californians that we will do whatever it takes to do what is right for the health of women
and men in California.

Democrats are going all out on a PR campaign to make sure they get that campaign money.  I think people are aware that a great deal of this money goes into political campaign coffers.  Using women's health to secure political funding is as low as it gets.  Now the Democrat Party has activated the pressure groups to strong arm the Susan G Koman organization to give them money via Planned Parenthood.

After cutting ties with Planned Parenthood, Komen donations up 100 percent
By Caroline May Published: 4:29 PM 02/02/2012 | Updated: 12:30 AM 02/03/2012
By Caroline May

In the wake of this week’s announcement that Susan G. Komen for the Cure will no longer be awarding grants to Planned Parenthood, the breast cancer organization’s donations have gone up 100 percent in the last two days.

On a Thursday conference call Nancy Brinker, the founder and CEO of the Komen Foundation, told reporters that the organization is “singularly focused” on combating breast cancer, and that the politics of the decision to stop funding Planned Parenthood has been distracting from their mission.

Nevertheless, since cutting ties, Brinker announced that Komen’s donations have gone up in the last two days — by 100 percent.

“Our donations are up 100 percent in the past two days. With all of the emotion around these issues — which we understand, we get emotional too, we do this every single day of our lives,” Brinker said, explaining that they do not make decisions to be popular, they make them to fight cancer.

On Wednesday Planned Parenthood reported that since Komen ended the relationship, the abortion provider has pulled in $400,000. According to CNN, following the announcement 6,000 donors gave to Planned Parenthood through online contributions.

While pro-choicers believe the decision to sever the relationship was based in politics, Komen continues to argue that the decision was based on internal policy changes which dictate more stringent criteria for grants — which Planned Parenthood does not meet, including the fact that Planned Parenthood is under congressional investigation and does not offer on-site screening, having to refer patients for mammograms, treatment and diagnosis elsewhere.

“We regret that these new policies have impacted some longstanding grantees, such as Planned Parenthood, but want to be absolutely clear that our grant-making decisions are not about politics,” Komen said in a statement Wednesday. “Throughout our 30 year history, our priority has always been and will continue to be the women we serve. As we move forward, we are working to ensure that there is no interruption or gaps in services for the women who need our support most in the fight against breast cancer.”

Since its founding in 1982 Komen has invested more than $1.9 billion in breast cancer treatment and research.

Mammograms are a key component for the Komen foundation and PP does NOT provide them. Seems logical that Komen would give the funds to the clinics which offer such imaging...why give PP money for something they don't do?

The resultant increase in contributions for both PP and Komen as a result of this action is win-win for both sides....unintended, but still there

Though I, as many others, will never give them another penny ever again.

"We will continue to fund existing grants, including those of Planned Parenthood, and preserve their eligiblity to appy for future grants," Nancy G. Brinker, the agency's ambassador, said in a statement.

All they are saying is that they will continue to fund the already 'existing' grants.

They will 'allow' PP to 'apply for future grants'. That doesn't mean PP is going to get them in the future.

And hey....where is obamacare in all of this? Obamacare allows free mamagrams AND private insurance companies are mandated to cover free mamagrams!! So does medicare and so does medicaid! WTF?

Thanks for the post Tommy.
Komen either had to bail out on this political decision, or fold.  Support from all sides had stopped, even from Republicans.

The Komen foundation WAS a very effective program, and the pity is that their reputation has been tarnished because of
Right Wing Politics.
I will never again give to Komen until the present leadership is fired.

A victory for women and a loss for Right Wing Religious Fanatics.
