To add your support to Planned Parenthood add your name to the letter below:
This is for all the anti-choice, anti-women people out there.
Listen up.
You can spend every minute of every day trying to force the rest of us to live by your ideology. You can go after federal funds for health care and pressure private organizations like the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation to stop funding breast cancer screenings for poor women. You can try to make it impossible to get birth control.
But you know what you can't do? You can't win. You can't break us. Planned Parenthood isn't just a family of organizations. It's a movement. It's women and men of all ages who believe that health care — including reproductive health care — is a basic human right. We are millions strong. We are everywhere. We act, we give, and we do whatever it takes to make sure that Planned Parenthood is there for the women, men, and teens who rely on them.
Know this: When you go after Planned Parenthood and the people they serve, you go after ME. I stand with Planned Parenthood. I stand with them against anyone who wants to stop women from receiving the health care they need. I stand with them today, tomorrow, and for as long as I need to.

I believe that abortion prematurely ends a human life..... I congratulate the Komen Foundation on this matter and that is all I will say.
Komen never supported abortion, but they did help prevent breast cancer and support those who have the disease. They didn't change one thing about PP and abortion... all they did do is remove cancer screening from thousands of women who need it. Women will die from this decision... and not one abortion will be prevented by their actions.

If the movement as they want to call it is so great then these grant cuts shouldn't be an issue, everyone who sides with PP can donate their own money to keep it going.
"In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, brave, hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a Patriot."
I've supported PP in the past, but my support has been political... never financial. The recent events with Komen putting women's health at risk by defunding P P has changed that.
I like many other Americans are outraged with Republican Politics cutting health care that will prevent breast cancer. I just sent my $50.00 donation, that will be matched by my employer to make the donation a $100.00 donation to Planned Parenthood.
If Komens attempt to cut funding to PP was meant to diminish PP's effectiveness, the opposite instead is true. Like many Americans, Komen's actions have inspired a whole group of people to fund PP that have never donated to that group before.
I have supported the Komen Fund in the past to a very minor degree, but will never support them again until their policy is changed and the present leadership is fired.

That's pretty wild...Always to the extremes with you. Everything is a zero sum game As if they money that used to be donated to Planned Parenthood won't get invested into another organization and save MORE lives. Do you work for Planned Parenthood?

Just read that Bloomberg just donated $250K. Good for him. So PP will have no issues. And until the congress completes it's investigation....the Komen funds can go to all of the other women's organizations, clinics and hospitals all over the country for breast cancer screening. So nothing has really changed after all............has it now?
All is saved!! Halleluiah!!!! We won't be picking up cancerous breasts off the ground...will we now!!
Gotta just love the fear tactics!!! OMG!

There IS no investigation. Just politics. The investigation was orchestrated in an election year to promote this issue that it's hoped will drum up support for failing Republican candidates. The opposite is true.

NYC mayor gives Planned Parenthood $250,000 matching grant
New York (CNN) -- New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is giving a $250,000 matching gift to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America to help make up for the loss of funding from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, his office said Thursday. "Politics have no place in health care," the mayor said in a written statement. "Breast cancer screening saves lives, and hundreds of thousands of women rely on Planned Parenthood for access to care. We should be helping women access that care, not placing barriers in their way."

Bloomberg is so funny...His donation to Planned Parenthood IS playing politics. Planned Parenthood has quite the lobby and political activism. Planned Parenthood has been using their funding to contribute to campaigns and political activisim for decades. Listen to them squeeeeeeeeeeel as they watch the money dry up.
Planned Parenthood is to the left wing, as what the NRA is to the right wing. PP promotes murder and promotes it as protection, the NRA promotes personal protection to order to prevent murder.
Susan G. Komen Top Officials Resign As Backlash Gains Steam
Dr. Kathy Plesser, a Manhattan radiologist on the medical advisory board of Susan G. Komen for the Cure's New York chapter, said she plans to resign from her position unless Komen reverses its decision to pull grant money from Planned Parenthood.
"I’m a physician and my interest is women’s health, and I am disturbed by Komen’s decision because I am a very strong advocate for serving under-served women," Plesser told The Huffington Post. "Eliminating this funding will mean there’s no place for these women to go. Where are these women to go to have a mammography? Do they not deserve to have mammography?"
With her decision, Plesser joins Komen's top public health official, Mollie Williams, and the executive director of Komen's Los Angeles County chapter, Deb Anthony, both of whom also resigned in protest.

Twenty-two senators signed a letter Thursday asking the Komen Foundation to reverse its decision to cut funding to Planned Parenthood. The strongly-worded letter urges the breast cancer charity to put "women’s health before partisan politics."
Here's the letter, via The Washington Post:
Dear Ambassador Brinker,
We write to express our disappointment with Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s decision to cut funding for breast cancer prevention, screening, and education at Planned Parenthood health centers. This troubling decision threatens to reduce access to necessary, life-saving services. We urge Komen to reconsider its decision.
Planned Parenthood is a trusted provider of health care for women and men. More than 90 percent of the services provided by Planned Parenthood are primary and preventative including wellness exams and cancers screenings that save lives. Each year, Planned Parenthood health clinics provide 750,000 breast exams, 770,000 pap tests and nearly 4 million tests and treatments for sexually transmitted diseases. Twenty percent of all women in the U.S. have visited a Planned Parenthood health center.
For the past five years, grants to local affiliates of Planned Parenthood have been an important part of Planned Parenthood’s work to protect women from breast cancer. Komen funding for Planned Parenthood has provided nearly 170,000 clinical breast exams and resulted in 6,400 referrals for mammograms. In 2011 alone, grants from Komen provided Planned Parenthood with roughly $650,000 in funding for breast cancer prevention, screening, and education. According to a recent statement by Komen, “In some areas of the U.S., our affiliates have determined a Planned Parenthood clinic to be the best or only local place where women can receive breast health care.”
It would be tragic if any woman —let alone thousands of women — lost access to these potentially life-saving screenings because of a politically motivated attack.
We earnestly hope that you will put women’s health before partisan politics and reconsider this decision for the

Very principled Senators...Good for them, they are standing up for what they were paid to stand up for...Everybody has a price.
Maybe the Susan G Komen organization is sick of watching the grant money meant for "women's health" go to political campaigns.

The congressional inquiry was launched in September by Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.) to determine, among other things, whether Planned Parenthood has used public money to fund abortions. Although Planned Parenthood receives federal money, that money can't be used to provide abortions.
“As Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, I am leading a formal investigation into taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood, which receives over $1 million a day in taxpayer money. Repeated cases of Planned Parenthood ignoring state and local reporting requirements, many involving minors, and allegations of financial abuse led to this investigation – the first ever oversight conducted on this group. We are still working with Planned Parenthood on getting the records and documents for the investigation, and I’m interested in holding a hearing depending on what the investigation discovers.”

3% of PP's activities is abortion services... and PP has consistently provided documentation to show that this money comes from private donations, not the taxpayers.
This investigation is the usual attack on PP because it provides abortions in the USA. A legal, needed, medical service.
The reason the investigation, and the Komen issue is happening is now... GUESS WHAT... IT's AN ELECTION YEAR AND THE REPUBLICANS ARE GOING TO GET TROUNCED UNLESS THEY CAN MOBILIZE THE BASE TO VOTE FOR AN UN-ELECTABLE CANDIDATE... MITT ROMNEY.
Every time that I think Conservatives can sink no lower... they surprise me by lowering the bar. Disgusting!
