There are at least two visions of America. One is 'socialist nanny state. The other is free market. Both parties & all the candidates morph in & out of where they stand or what they stand for. The choice is not clear nor absolute. America was a 'gift' to world, some say by God others say powerful groups of men saw the need & the New World was colonized. Europe was ripe with war & it's peoples were dying in the millions from disease. Asia even worst & Africa was beyond comprehension in pain. The process of bringing America into the world of nations was not perfect nor without injustice. That said, America was & is the best game in town. As long as there is an America, entitlements will exist. It is a matter of degree. Today the entitlement culture governs by majority vote. America is not a nation, she is an empire. We will never be able to step away from Empire status, we can reduce the need. Empire status causes the host nation to be changed in ways that run counter to the founding farther's designs. We may be too far down that path to return to 'traditional values'. The men running for president represent extreme positions or are too busy fighting among one another. Democrat & Republican, they all play the same game. It is time for candidates to state positions the electorate can hang their hats on. Can the in fighting. The likelihood of this occurring is minimal, I must conclude whomever wins the 2012 election, nothing will change. America is doomed unless the people demand more of elected officials. On the other hand, the dooming of America maybe what this is all about. "Heads I win, tails you lose". Chose wisely in November 2012, your existence depends on it. |
