New York commits $1M to help residents facing foreclosure The Business Review Date: Thursday, January 12, 2012, 2:46pm EST
New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman said his office will commit $1 million to help state residents facing foreclosure. The money will fund legal services for homeowners in foreclosure or at “imminent risk” of foreclosure. Schneiderman is seeking bids from nonprofit legal agencies and legal aid groups to provide the services. The funding could be awarded in about two months under an expedited process authorized by Schneiderman. The $1 million will come from a 2006 settlement between the attorney general’s office and Ameriquest Mortgage Co. over predatory and illegal lending practices. The guidelines for applying will be posted in the New York State Contract Reporter, http://www.nyscr.org and will also be available on the Attorney General's website, http://www.ag.ny.gov/bureaus/budget_fiscal/procurement.html later this week........................>>>>...................>>>>......................http://www.bizjournals.com/albany/news/2012/01/12/new-york-commits-1m-to-help-residents.html
