I didn't hear anything.  If it's true, it's good news for the Recovery Room's lunch and dinner business.  Just keep on collecting that sales tax so Metroplex can prop up the next competitor that will put you out of business.

Maybe it's time to move out and on to bigger things....some how with all the years here,  it may not be true...

Why give up....The Recovery Room will go down first....just goes to show you....beer, apts., condos, drug stores, banks, pizza

is foremost.....not a diner that has been good to its residents and customers....a staple of Rotterdam....

Another staunch supporter of these democraps/Sue SSavage/far-left-wing copservatives/County Metroplex/Obama/Spitzer democrap party in the county of Schenectady. Guess his hope and change is not going so well right about now, which is too bad because I hate to see any business suffer. But these folks that encourage socialist policy and high taxation then wonder why their business suffers.

Mr. Mericle called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m.
1.
Approval of Minutes: Mr. Christou moved acceptance of the June 17, 2011 minutes as presented; seconded by Mr. Webster. The minutes of the June 17, 2011 meeting were approved.
2. Treasurer’s Report — Jim Callander reviewed the Treasurer’s Report for the period ending July 31, 2011 which was distributed prior to the meeting noting that revenue was ahead of budget and expenses under budget for the year. Cash on hand was about $199,000. Ms. Gatta moved to accept the Treasurer’s report; seconded by Mr. Webster and accepted.
3. United Suites at Washington Square, LLC Project (Schenectady): Resolution 316-07 —SEQRA Resolution / Negative Declaration
The Agency accepted lead agency status for undertaking a coordinated review of the state-mandated environmental review process. Resolution 316-11 issued a negative declaration for the project determining that the project will have no significant effect on the environment. The key issues reviewed included pedestrian safety, proximity to the historic Schenectady Armory, and positive economic revitalization impacts on lower State Street. Mr. Hughes moved Resolution 316-11; seconded by Mr. Christou. After brief discussion, Resolution 316-11 was approved.
4. United Suites at Washington Square, LLC Project (Schenectady): Resolution 317-11 —Designate United Suites at Washington Square, LLC as Applicant / Lessee
The resolution addresses a change in the name of the applicant and project developer by designating United Suites at Washington Square, LLC, an affiliated entity of United Group of Companies, as lead developer. It was also reported that a public hearing on the project was held on August 3, and no one attended. No other comments on the project were received. Mr. Hughes moved Resolution 317-11; seconded by Ms. Gatta. Following discussion regarding the name change, Resolution 317-11 was approved.
5. United Suites at Washington Square, LLC Project (Schenectady): Resolution 318-11 — Agent Resolution
Resolution 318-11 designated United Suites at Washington Square, LLC as the Agency’s agent for purposes of utilizing the sales tax and mortgage recording tax exemptions for the project. Mr. Hughes moved Resolution 318-11; seconded by Mr. Christou and approved.

6. SRS Niskayuna LLC: Resolution 319-11 — Designate BBL Construction Services as Sub-agent
The developer for the Shop-Rite project in Niskayuna requested that its general contractor, BBL Construction Services, LLC, be granted designation as sub-agent for the Agency with respect to the project. The designation would allow BBL to use the sales tax exemption for building renovation and other project-related materials, supplies and equipment. With NYS Tax and Finance aggressively undertaking more IDA-related project expense audits, the designation proves to be beneficial to both developers and builders. Mr. Christou moved Resolution 319-11; seconded by Ms. Gatta and unanimously approved.
7. Shop Rite Supermarkets, Inc.: Resolution 320-11 — Designate BBL Construction Services as Sub-agent
Resolution 320-11 designated BBL Construction Services, LLC as sub-agent for the tenant fit-up associated with the supermarket project. Mr. Webster moved Resolution 320-11; seconded by Mr. Christou and unanimously approved.
8. Other Business: Ray Gillen noted that Shop Rite will open the Niskayuna store on October 2. He briefed the Board on Glenville’s Target project and Rotterdam’s Curry Road Shopping Center redevelopment project.
9. Adjournment — Mr. Hughes moved to adjourn; seconded by Mr. Christou. The meeting adjourned at 8:25 a.m.

3. FY-2012 Draft Budget: Resolution 321-11 — Distribute Budget for Public Inspection
The Agency is required to file its draft budget with the County for a minimum of 20 days allowing for public inspection. Revenue forecast was based on anticipated project development, while expenses were expected to decline largely by modifying the management services agreement with Metroplex from a fixed monthly fee to 30 percent of project fees. Mr. Finn moved Resolution 321-11; seconded by Ms. Gatta. Discussion focused on the impact of altering the compensation arrangement under the management services agreement, which will need to be considered and approved by both parties. Resolution 321-11 was unanimously approved.
4. United Suites at Washington Square, LLC Project (Schenectady): Resolution 322-11 — Final Approving Resolution
The project has secured all necessary approvals to proceed. Resolution 322-11 conferred the sales tax and mortgage recording tax exemptions for the housing project. Mr. Christou moved Resolution 322-11; seconded by Mr. Webster and unanimously approved.

5. General Electric Company (Town of Rotterdam): Resolution 323-11— Commence Pilot Deviation Process and Hold a Public Hearing
The resolution authorized holding a public hearing and starting the Pilot deviation process for an agreement covering the Rotterdam portion of GE’s Main Plant Campus. Mr. Christou moved Resolution 323-11; seconded by Mr. Mesick. Discussion followed in support of the Pilot. Resolution 323-11 was approved.
6. JRC of Rotterdam, LLC / Belvedere Hotel (Town of Rotterdam): Resolution 324-11 —Convey Project to Owner
The resolution terminates the Agency’s involvement in the Belvedere Hotel project by releasing its interests in the real estate thereby concluding its participation in the project. Mr. Finn moved Resolution 324-11; seconded by Mr. Mesick and approved.
7. Other Business: Ray Gillen gave an update on several ongoing projects including Dimension Fabricators and Target in Glenville, Shop Rite and Mansion Square projects in Niskayuna, the former McDonald’s site in Scotia, and Curry Road Shopping Plaza in Rotterdam.
8. Adjournment: Mr. Hughes moved to adjourn; seconded by Mr. Christou and the meeting adjourned at 8:40 a.m.

A regional consortium of locally owned restaurants is throwing its combined purchasing power into a new contract with an old partner, Ginsberg' s Foods Inc. of Hudson.

After 10 years with Houston-based food services giant Sysco Corp., which has a local operation in Halfmoon, the Restaurant Operators Cooperative has selected Ginsberg's as its prime vendor.

The designation means that Ginsberg's will supply a wide variety of foods and restaurant products to the cooperative's 86 members, which include diners, Italian restaurants, cafes, country clubs, hotels and bistros around the Capital Region.

The estimated value of the three-year contract, which takes effect Jan. 1, is about $15 million a year for the family-owned Ginsberg's.

Evan Christou, president and founder of ROC, as the cooperative is called, and vice president and general manager of Tops American Grill in Rotterdam, said the change didn't stem from any dissatisfaction with Sysco.

But as members of the cooperative heard proposals from three finalists, which also included US Food Services, which has operations in Clifton Park, they were especially impressed with the Ginsberg's package.

quot;The main goal of the purchasing cooperative is to save our members money,quot; Christou said. But the range and quality of products available also were among the factors considered in the choice, he added.

quot;Ginsberg's just put a really good foot forward,quot; Christou said. quot;The climate was right for a change.quot;

ROC was founded about 15 years ago as a way to help independent local eateries combine their buying power and gain the kind of high-volume discounts typically available to larger restaurants.

quot;It allows us to become more competitive with chain restaurants,quot; Christou said.

Members often buy some specialty items from other suppliers, but typically can purchase as much as 80 percent to 90 percent of their supplies from the prime vendor, he said.

She said Ginsberg's emphasizes local produce and products, as well as well-known national brands.

The project site, owned by the County, currently generates no tax revenue as it serves as a parking lot for SCCC. The PILOT generates new tax revenue for the County/City and School District. The City, County and School District received written notification about the PILOT and no comments were received. Mr. Christou moved Resolution 325-11; seconded by Mr. Webster. Discussion followed regarding student housing leases and the economic benefits of the project. Resolution 325-11 was unanimously approved.
4. FY-2012 Draft Budget: Resolution 326-11 — Approve FY-2012 Budget
The Agency did not receive any comments on the budget since filing the draft budget with the County Clerk’s Office for public inspection. There were no changes to the budget which was reviewed at the last meeting. Mr. Hughes moved Resolution 326-11; seconded by Mr. Christou and unanimously approved.
5. Other Business: Ray Gillen reported on the status of several projects including the opening of the new Shop Rite, the work underway at the Glenville Target site, cleanup of the former Navy Depot and McDonald’s sites in Scotia and the addition of new jobs at Dimension Fabricators.
6. Adjournment — Mr. Hughes moved to adjourn; seconded by Mr. Christou. The meeting was adjourned at 8:35.

Yup......heard it a couple of months ago. Not that they were going to close.......but that it was very very very slow and finances weren't looking too good. We thought it was just rumor and didn't think too much of it. Perhaps he just over invested in Rotterdam or perhaps now that the recovery grill is here, it took some business away! And I'm sure his tax dollars, just like dunzy's went to support the recovery grill too! They can thank the Metroplex!!!

But isn't he one of the folks involved in selling the property with larned for those apartments?  

In either case.....it is sad to see any business, that employs people and supports the community and pays into the tax base to close!! When any business closes it is a lose/lose for EVERYONE!!
