You and your compadres are missing the point that outside experts are invited to schools to enhance the lessons beaing taught.
PP are "experts" at sex ed. Kids actually discuss more with them, because they don't know them, than they do with their school's teachers. Hence, the kids learn more. Isn't that what you want?
All of these objections are empty straw arguements meant to distract from the fact that ya'll want PP out of the schools only because they provide abortions.
To the home schooler... if your kids are old enough (8th grade), do you discuss those yucky sex words with your kids? You know penis, va gina, masturbation, intercourse, etc? If not, you're doing your kids a disservice.
PS....I'm not against abortion.....I'm against the legislation....the language of the use of the word and the podium puck it is relegated to..... ABORTION IS A SERIOUS/SAD/DEEPLY PERSONAL DECISION.......just like getting married should be that personal and not a "they told me so" pp is not the expert.......each of us individually are our own experts.....PP doesn't remove pain and suffering, nor do they empower.......if that were the case the hell with our personal choices... we have exchanged one master for another....... LIBERTY doesn't come from "they told me so"........whether it be religious or some government psyche conversation about sex ed......duh....hello...sex and abortion have been around for millenia.... PP doesn't own the patent......keep it to biology and health of THE BODY....as for the mind and spirit----NO BODY BELONGS THERE ESPECIALLY THE GOVERNMENT..... |

"Preventing teen pregnancy can protect the health and quality of life of teenagers, their children, and their families throughout the United States." http://thechart.blogs.cnn.com/2011/04/05/teen-pregnancy-rate-lowest-in-two-decades/
Let's go to the CDC article and finish what you started Box "Teen Birth Rates Declined Again in 2009 : Teen birth rates lowest in US history, but remain significantly higher than those in most industrialized nations" The article (from the CDC) then goes on and states: "Underlying causes for the decrease are not yet known, and it is unclear whether they will continue." "Teen birth rates in the U.S. remain up to nine times higher than in most other developed nations." The US is second to Bulgaria for the highest pregnancy rate in industrialized nations. |

PP is an expert. They are on top of this issue and teen sex like white on rice. To not use them would be irresponsible. PP has vastly more experience with teens and their world than the Shen teachers also. Dat's a fact, Jack.
If sex ed were left to parents to teach it simply wouldn't get done. And for those few who did it, it would be lacking. What parent can stay on top of all the issues like PP does. None of us can, including the nurse in here. And you all know it. You just don't have the balls to admit it.
Since it's been a mandatory class the rate of teen pregnancies have dropped. To argue for reversing that trend is... well... selfish and ignorant.
THAT is why it's the law that schools teach it. Because when left in the hands of parents - it simply doesn't get done. |

sex ed is lacking when religious superiority of the sexes gets involved...... PP teaches sex ed like church teaches marriage....fine....but keep them at those institutions..... biology and health class cover everything needed......HOW a person uses that info doesn't belong in the hands of the public school...... as for degrading parents.....that's poor...... that becomes an issue like the 'board of reasonable profit'...... |

what would be lacking..... 1. STD's 2. the anatomy of how pregnancy happens? 3. how ovulation happens and why? 4. how/why ejaculation? 5. prevention how about where chemical birth control originates? how it's made....the effects on the brain....the effects on ALL hormones in your body....the effects for later in life and your fertility/lack of,,,, |

STDs still on the rise, report says SEXUAL HEALTH January 13, 2009|By Elizabeth Landau CNN
In spite of prevention efforts, new cases of some of the most common sexually transmitted diseases are going up, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The report, "Sexually Transmitted Disease Surveillance 2007," also said that women and minorities in particular are more likely to have sexually transmitted diseases, or STDs.
That fact isn't surprising, experts say, as studies on STDs in the past have also shown that women and minorities bear the greatest burden of STDs. The age of those affected hasn't changed much either -- nearly 19 million new sexually transmitted infections occur each year, and almost half of those affect 15- to 24-year-olds.

I know it is tough for many public school educators to understand parents questioning a teachers character and the people around their children. How dare they!!
Yes, what I mean when I say "access to children" is, some parents ACTUALLY QUESTION the teachers that are responsible for their kids 7 hours a day, 5 days a week. I know you think parents a generally not involved and should just drop their children off and leave everything up to the state educators.
I can understand the Shen parents concerns when you have teachers like Chris Culver and Don Paretta in your ranks. So yes, I DEFINITELY want to know EVERY person given the authority to stand in front of a classroom and instruct my child.
What I find ironic is, you and many other public teachers like to blame uninvolved parents for the failure of public schools, and specifically in your case, you believe parents are not involved in sex education. Yet, when a group of parent want to get involved in their child's education, they are treated with contempt for sticking their nose in where it doesn't belong. Very interesting.
No tin foil hat here. Just an involved parent unwilling to hand my child's mind over to the public education system.
I agree!!! Dropping your kid off at school is NOT like dropping your dog off at the vet for God's sake!!!! School's scream and teachers use the excuse that they can't teach kids anything when there is no parental involvement or interest. The minute the parents get involved, show interest and question the establishment.....they are called religious zealots!! Ya just can't make this stuff up! |
